Driver for enabling bluetooth in Toshiba laptop

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I were looking for something like this for a long time now and couldn't find anything so I wrote one myself :). It's using device TOS6205, and you can check if you have one by typing:

ioreg -lw0 | grep TOS6205

It's my first driver and event first application for Mac OS, so don't be mad if this brakes anything on your computer:).

Great - just dropped the kext, repaired permissions and it works perfectly on Toshiba Satellite A200-E562. Didn't even require a restart. Bluetooth cannot be turned off from the menubar, but the hardware switch works, so no issue. Great job! :)

Hi Bacouch,

I have a Toshiba Qosmio X300 and your kext is working perfectlly under Leopard and Snow Leopard 32bit,but under Snow Leopard 64bit does not work.

Please could you modify the kext for Snow 64bit??

Many thanks for your help

thank you for the 64it kext, it worked flawlessly!!!!! but then i upped to 10.6.3, and its not loading up anymore. pfix log confirms this.

so is it just me that has issues on 10.6.3, or is the kext broken in this version? could it be modified?

im running a toshiba x305-q705

THANKS!

Top work for a first effort. This works perfectly on my toshiba nb200 with 10.0 snow leopard. Unfortunately it's not working on 10.6.5 (which I need to make my wifi work!)

Any ideas what's broken it in newer versions?

Thanks,

Andrew

For me it works perfectly under SL 10.6.7 64bit (Toshiba Satellite X200-20F) . Try to verify the kernel didn't switch from 32 to 64 mode after updating.

Hey!

Again, big thanks for your great kext! I'm currently working on my Lion install, and apparently the kext don't load. I'm not very sure but the bluetooth don't work.

Do you plan to compile it for 10.7?

OK, I managed to make it work under 10.7 (fresh install)

After some investigation, the kext seems to be loaded at startup, but maybe it can't detect hardware, or something like that.

I unloaded, and reloaded it manually and tada! it works!

I don't know if I'll need to do this again at next startup.

You guys can try this in the mean time.

EDIT: Works like a charm, no need to do anything.

    • Tried with HPET enabled and disabled so I don't think it's that. I'd tried with bus ratio before to no effect but wouldn't hurt to try again. The clock runs at the correct speed.
    • could be an HPET / TSC Sync issue. does your system clock slow down or run faster then it should. also check cpu and buss ratios.
    • @MacPeet El capitan. It has t7700 cpu, so HS is not option for now. Have to find t9500 cpu. I bought this laptop for 30euros 3 weeks ago, with everything working, battery like new, it looks like from store, 4gb ram, 1920x1200 17" screen, replaced wifi and put SSD. Also sleep and hibernation working, native brightness, volume touch buttons work. Windows was not option because of broken  touchpad drivers, and linux because of slow graphics. Here everything works like it should.   AD1981 is also on thinkpad T60. I searched everywhere, but no solution. Here is some half working legacy driver, don't know how binary was patched(if it was): https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=85344&start=28#p564260
    • the slowness is most likely IM's host provider. we used to use ONE.com but they sucked and it was super slow so we switched and things definitely got better on the slowness front
    • Remove the THB_C cable and try this: SSDT-TB3 Z270.aml Remember though, the method without THB_C works only if a device is connected and turned on before boot, otherwise the PCI-TB card is not loaded by the system (and you do not see it on ioreg). In my case it works because my TB Dock is always on. To succeed try these steps:
1- enable Fix Shutdown in Clover
      2- turn off the computer
3- Connect the TB device and switch it on
4- wait few seconds and turn on the computer Obviously if you do not have a dock like me you have two choices:
      - Use the SSDT V1 or V2 and deactivate the sleep if you are having problems
      - Wait for new developments     @Loloflat6 Apart this bad luck, you're still lucky, the TBEX is the only TB card (at least until now) that is recognized naturally by the system even without a THB_C cable o device connected at boot
