I am really lost. I have spent the last 3 days reading posts, but to be honest after reading about the BIOS, the chipset, different patches, I have realised I have no idea what could be my problem, as it seems I could have a combination of a few of them

My PC:

BIOSTAR IDEQ 200T (865G) - onboard VGA disabled. working fine with XP SP2

3Ghz P4

1Gb RAM

ATA-133 7200 120Gb

Nvidia 6800GS

USB logitech mouse and keyboard

I have downloaded the prepatched 10.4.5 image, and although it does seriously labour at the beginning of the install, it does eventually perform the install without any perceived problem. Only right at the end, when I want to press the RESTART button (blue), it is stuck.

I then hard-reset the PC, and the boot process is verbose, but only on the last line of the screen, right at the botton, making it impossible to see what is going on as it keeps on overwriting the last line. Then after about 2 mins it just reboots itself

Any help or pointers would be very much appreciated!

Thanks

Try a different install dvd. I had the same problem with the INTEL SSE2/SSE3 dvd, and when I tried Myzar's the OS booted. Note: the installer still hangs at the restart button, but the OS works.

Also, the OS will not reboot, but it will shut down.
