A10 Posted February 28, 2009 Share Posted February 28, 2009 I've tried iDeneb 1.4 and 1.4 and now I'm on to iATKOS v5i. I've installed all of these multiple times. I've been at this for days wiping the partition and installing. Here's the scoop on iATKAOS Installation goes fine. I select these packages (I think I forgot to write a couple down) iATKAOS v5i Main System PC EFI V9 NVInject EFI string 7600gt 256MB AGPGart Intel SATA Based on my system: Intel Pentium 4 hyperthreading DIMM SDRAM 400mhz Dell 0F4491 Motherboard AGP Nvidia 7600 GT 256MB Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live 24bit Intel ICH5 (chipset? or something. This just stuck out at me when I ran lshw) after I install iATKOS and it tells me to boot the bootloader comes up, I press a key to go to option and I type: -v Which results in a quick flash of texk and then reboots creating a boot loop. I managed to get a lucky picture at the right time and this is the last thing it sais before the screen goes black. -v -x results in about 30 seconds of quick scrolling text and then it suddenly reboots. It looks like this (not the last thing but somewhere in the middle) Ideneb had similar problems but under v1.3 with a 9.2.2 kernel I was at leatst able to get a kernel panic. I hope my problem is just selecting the wrong packages. What should I use (iDeneve 1.3/4 or iKATOS) and what should I select during install under customize? A10 Posted February 28, 2009 Author Share Posted February 28, 2009 Update: Still failing. Also this is on an upgraded dell dimension 4600i. I've tried following the guides for this and that's how I've gotten this far. Also the iATKOS v5i isn't patched. Is there a patch for it? I have two hard drives both on SATA and two dvd/cd burners master/slave on IDE. On my latest install of iATKOS I've run into some interesting phenomenon No options or -v results in immediate shutdown. -v -F also immediate shutdown -v -F rd=disk0s2 results in still waiting for root device I have it installed on the second partition of the primary drive. I tried disabling the secondary drive in bios and marking the first partition on disk0 with the hidden flag but I still got the "still waiting for root device error". Any suggestions? A10 Posted February 28, 2009 Author Share Posted February 28, 2009 I replaced /Volumes/disk0s2/System/Library/Extentions with Extensions.mkext ( I renamed it so that it didn't have the .mkext extension) on the iATKOS cd. It's an improvement. No more shutdowns and boot loops but I still can't get passed the Still waiting for root device. This is odd because I was able to install to this device just fine but now darwin can't find it? Not even with the CD Extensions? The cd took forever to boot so maybe I'll just leave it running and see if this illusive root device shows up. Anyone have a patched Extensions kext that can find the second partition on a primary SATA drive? Ideas anyone? A10 Posted March 1, 2009 Author Share Posted March 1, 2009 I've come to the conclusion that none of this is real. I believe no one has ever sucessfully booted after they intstaled it. This is all a lie and was just created to get idiots like me to mess up grub everytime they installed it. I'm going to go cut myself to make sure the past few days sitting at my computer installing, then wiping, then installing with new customize options hasn't been one very bad dream.
