DJ Commie
I'm attempting to install OSX86 10.4.4 (ppf patched) on an eMachines T1842, 1.8GHz Celeron with the Intel "Extreme" Video chipset, 512MB Mushkin DDR PC2100 RAM...but using a GeForce 2 MX400 DDR PCI card to avoid the grayscale issue versus the onboard crappy video. Motherboard specs: http://www.emachineupgraders.info/dir1/mot.../imperial.shtml (running the Trigem Imperial GL_VE motherboard with the 1.8. I'm experiencing what seems to be locking up once the language chooser loads. I ran in verbose mode to see if there are error messages, and it seems that the installer is receiving a timeout on the PS/2 controller, which would explain the lack of input abilities from keyboard and PS/2 mouse. It also mentions that the USB huv is overcurrenting, which is is improbable because there's nothing at all plugged into it. I'm at a loss as to what I should do, there are snippets without resolution mentioned in the wiki, This for the same input device error: M6810Gets to first screen of install, language selection, but keyboard and mouse do not function. Diagnostic mode yields: ApplePS2Controller: Timed out on mouse input stream ApplePS2Controller: Timed out on keyboard input stream There seems to be a successful install mentioned Here, but there really isn't much more info given. Should I get an older version of OSX86, I really don't want to waste my time attempting to do the VMware::disk image method, and was wondering if there are any install options I can use to get me keyboard control. edit: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...95&hl=emachines mentions a working version, I mgith as well just try to find that and see if it helps me. I should have 10.4.1 around, I remember having keyboard control with that a long time ago atempting to install. DJ Commie
Wonderful News! I got it working, I unplugged the front USB jacks, it stopped giving me the overcurrent warnings. I used a cheap $8 (from newegg) USB to PS/2 Keyboard and Mouse adapter, and now I'm halfway done through install! I'll update to see what final problems I have. (Still using 10.4.4 ppf patched) Okay, here's the issues: No ethernet No video modes other than 1024x768 okay, installed 10.4.3 IONetworking kext as well as tulip, no changes Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15525-osx86-1044-install-problems-on-emachine-t1842/#findComment-103137 Share on other sites
DJ Commie
I guess you could say its working (posting with the OSX86box now). I'm using the 10.4.5 image "MaC.OsX.10.4.5.Universal.Install.DVD(INTEL/AMD/SSE3/SSE2)" No sound as of late, but the AC97 kexts are erroring out, maybe I'll get that dealt with. Network works great, its just an old 3c905-tx card. Its a little slow on internet response, but it seems to mostly be from DNS issues with my ISP. I'll try to get sound working, then I'll call it a success!
