I'm curious to test OS X on AMD machine. So I'm about trying to install OS X 10.5.6 on HP Pavilion dv6000 (dv6103eu). If this topic was helpful, please add your comment or answer the poll.

I got iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal PPF5 (Final) iso version and created from this bootable USB stick.

To avoid problem with booting (have tried without success several times iDeneb 1.4) is choosed as less as possible drivers or patches. Do not check graphic drivers for dv6103eu as this might cause first boot to fail, even in safe mode!! GeForce Go 6150 seems to be very complicated graphic card for OSx86.

Items i selected:

- Base System

- Voodoo kernel

- Cipset AppleNForceATA nForce Drivers

- Fix for DualBoot TimeSync

- AppleSMBIOS-27 Rev3 667MHz

- All Apps but not MacFUSE

Installation time was approximately 10 minutes. I managed to boot up machine but video quality is terrible (didn't checked any drivers), keyboard and mouse, network and so on does not working. So I'm curious to get all hardware to work too. So, any suggestions or comments are welcome!! After firs successful boot i did backup from all drivers with OSx86 Tools.

:D Remove FireWire extensions

After installation open the folder /System/Library/Extensions and delete all the IOFirewire kexts:

IOFirewireAVC.kext

IOFirewireFamily.kext

IOFirewireIP.kext

IOFirewireSBP2.kext

IOFirewireSerialBusProtocolTransport.kext

If you colulnt boot u and suspecting that because those kexts, then enter F8 at Darwin prompt on boot and enter -s and use these commands:

/sbin/fsck -fy

/sbin/mount -uw /

cd System

cd Library

cd Extensions

mv IOFirewireAVC.kext IOFirewireAVC.kext-rem

repeate last command for all firewire kexts and finaly enter reboot to restart maschine

:dance_24: Mouse and keyboard problem

I didn't mentioned above, you couldn't install dv6000 with built in mouse and keyboard, as those are not working. You need at least usb mouse and better both usb mouse and usb keyboard. As I have iMac i tooked those from iMac and used until I applied mouse and keyboard patch. dv6000 mouse and keyboard are PS2 equpments, so you need 3 kexts to get it to work:

- AppleACPIPlatform.kext (used from iDeneb 1.3 ACPI-Fix pack)

- AppleAPIC.kext (used from iDeneb 1.3 ACPI-Fix pack)

- ApplePS2COntroller.kext (I found it on deviantart.com)

Install kexts with kext helper or with OSx86 Tools, reboot and your keyboard and mouse are working!

:dance_24: LAN Drivers for MCP51

1. Search this forum for driver:

I found working LAN drivers in InsaelyMac forum topic nForce LAN driver, nForce LAN driver for osx,

I used kext installer of OSx86 Tools to install nForceLAN.kext what I extracted from package I founded in attachment of post mentioned above.

nForceLAN.kext.zip NB! Please remove all installed versions of forcedeth.kext and nForceEthernetController.kext from your system

2. Use OSx86 Tools to download and install Ethernet Driver

I used the Download and Install Hardware Drivers tool of OSx86 Tools to get working ethernet drivers for dv6000. Please remember to remove all other drivers from download and installation list, that you have only one desired driver in list!!!

:dance_24: VIDEO Drivers GeForce Go 6150

Video drivers are complicated part of dv6103eu installation as there is no available good drivers yet. I have googled a lot for GeForce Go 6150 drivers. I have find some solutions but still no drivers with QE/CI support. Probably its not very common graphics card of OSx86 users. As I dont know how to write this driver by myself, then I shall use solutions implemented by other people.

I post here some links where i got some useful information:

- GeForce GO 6150

- hp Pavilion dv6000 series AMD

- GeForce Go 6150 suggestion

- alternative GeForce Go 6150 driver download

Maybe one day some of these topics will be updated and you can find better solution.

You know, i've got a DV6338se model and i was wondering: Did you have to boot, several times, due to hang-ups in the installation boot? Also, afterward, how long did a boot usually take you? Mine would take up to 6 mins when it would boot at all. I've never tried an install as clean as you're talking about but i just wondered if you had any "side-effect" problems before and after the installation so i won't feel like a loner with my issues?

Oddly enough, i've got an HP 550 also and it installed like it was MADE for MacOSX. I'm thinking because most of the hardware was Intel. MacOSX loves intel graphics, ethernet, and audio.
