-jordn-
hey, i have managed to get OSX to install by using the From Vmware to Native! guide. it works fully through Vmware as expected, but when attempting to boot native i get a 'Still Waiting On Root Device' error. i have tried various methods as suggested in other topics such as using verbose commands ( -v,-x,-f) and unplugging unnessesary IDE devices such as DVD writers and auxillary hard disks. None of them work. However, the last error message i reicived was regarding the 'AppleOnboardPCATA', stating that it has has no kernel dependancy. Then it says 'WARNING- ATA Drive claims FLUSH CACHE EXT feature support but does not claim extended LBA feature support'. After this it says 'AppleNVidiaNforceATA: CMD 0x170, CTR 0x374, IRQ 15, BM 0xe008.' Any help would be very much appriecated. My Specs: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Venice) MSI K8N Neo4-F LG DVD-ROM and DVD-RW Drives XFX Nvidia 6800XT 80GB System Disk with two partitions; 20GB for osx, and 55GB for windows mce. 120GB Data hard disk. jordn. shedt
i fixed mine by switching my hdd's around. i put my mac osx drive with my dvd rom. dvdrom set as master and osx86 drive slave. put my other data drive on the first channel (blue one) i also have a sata drive, i think i may have a problem with the atakext i'm using for the ati southbridge. i believe the problem is because i have a sata controller? or would i have a pata one too? both? shedt
the problem is it could be many of different combinations, i swapped my drive many times, on both channels. by fluke i got it right i think this time. i still can't boot native, but i'm getting closer. sem
I am also having this problem. Also tried many combinations with DVD slave/master, HD slave/master, primary, secondary etc. All without any results.. It is pretty weird because 10.4.4 worked great. I thought a fresh install would not matter, but after formatting and reinstalling it came up with the 'still waiting for boot device' error.. I've used the MacOSX_10.4.6DVDPATCHED_Myz iso from the bay. specs: Asus A8N-E motherboard AMD 64 3000+ Venice (939) geforce 6200 Somebody had another solution to try ?
