Hi All,

I recently installed vanilla Leopard on my ASUS P5QL Pro board, Intel core 2 duo E8400, with SATA drives. I updated the BIOS with 0803 version as posted in the forum. After the install, I tried to do the time machine and network setup but it failed. In the /var/log/system.log I see an entry stating that the loaded version (5.6.0) of IONetworkingFamily is different from requested version 1.6.1. I checked the version.plist of IONetworkingFamily kext in /Systems/Library/Extensions and it is 1.6.1. I checked the caches and no where I could find this weird 5.6.0 version. If I open the About This Mac->More Info-> Extensions, I do not see IONetworkingFamily listed there, even though when I do kextstat | grep IONetworkingFamily, I can see it is loaded (with version showing as 5.6.0). Is there anything missing during the boot process that forces the runtime version of IONetworkingFamily switched to 5.6.0? I searched all the forums, couldn't find any post related to this. Did any one face this issue?

I tried installing ToH kexts but that didn't work. I even replaced the IONetworkingFamily kext with the one found in this forum, still that didn't work. Interestingly, if I take my instal hard disk and set it up as startup disk in my MacBookPro, it boots up fine and the IONetworkingFamily shows up as 1.6.1.

Am I missing anything?

I have Attansic Onboard Gbe LAN. However, I have also installed DLINK WUA1340 USB wireless drivers but didn't help. When I try to load these drivers, I see that message that the loaded version 5.6.0 of IONetworkingFamily is different from requested version of 1.6.1

Thanks a lot.

weird,

maybe a smbios error ?

or a wrong efi-string ?

I mounted the same disk in MacBookPro and could boot up and I do see IONetworkingFamily correctly showing version 1.6.1 there. It is only behaving badly on the ASUS P5QL Pro board. I am using Retail Leopard CD family edition. Does server edition work? I checked that the MacBookPro edition does not work.

Thanks.
