It is my belief that this won't happen.

1. think of how many people on here have been exposed to OS X now and love it.

2. apple will eventually either:

a. sell a vanilla os x

or

b. lock it down to the point it can not be run on vanilla hardware.

either way they win. they either sell copies of vanilla os x or they sell a few more macs when the people who loved using it on their vanilla hardware are unable to use it anymore and the older versions don't cut it anymore.

I don't think Apple is going to make a move. Piracy has in fact helped Microsoft as much as it will help Apple over time. They can not condone it... but doesn't mean they will actively pursue litigation.

Now I am not a lawyer and I don't know what Apple is thinking, these are simply my opinions on the matter and could be completely wrong.

Personally I do feel guilty about running the hacked copy, but at the same time I do it. if Apple released a vanilla os x tomorrow... i would buy it, format and install it in a heart beat though.

I've purchased every upgrade for my PPC macs and will continue to do so until they can't be upgraded anymore or I put them to rest. In that I feel a *little* better... I think.

It seems only Music downloaders have really been targeted. Demonoid is a private site so changes of problems are minimal.

I would buy a vanilla os x myself too if they released it.

hahaha. Demonoid is about as a private club as gmail was. Seriously... who hasn't been able to get in?

Now Oink's... that's a little more private.
