Guest
I frequently need to use the Leo DVD for restoring entire system from Time machine backups. Is there a way I could use a Pen drive instead of the DVD to do the same? Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148129-use-pen-drive-instead-of-dvd/ Share on other sites
Lanceomni
Use a thumb drive large enough to fit the entire contents of the DVD. I use an 8gb. Place the install DVD in the drive and plug your thumb drive in. Open Disk Utility and format your thumb drive in GUID, right click the partition and uncheck "ignore ownership". Click the restore tab and select your DVD as source and your thumb drive as destination. Download a copy of the Chameleon Bootloader and install it on the usb drive. Guest
Thanks for the prompt help. Presently, I only have a Sandisk 2 GB pen drive. Is it a must to copy the entire contents of the dvd or can some files be deleted? Slimming the package down to fit 4gb is possible and 2gb may be an option but it sounds like a serious headache. 8gb usb drives can be had for less than $15 US. It seems that it would be much easier to go the 8gb route. Guest
Thanks for the replies. Tell me more about fitting it to 4 GB. Bcoz, the DVD takes a lot of time to reach the desired screen where i get the option to "Restore entire system from Time Macnine backups". I would like to see that time reduced.
