my whole microsoft software package does not work and I haven't a clue as to how to fix it.

When I try to use Microsoft Word, I get a message telling me that "The application microsoft word quit unexpectedly." It also says that nothing else was affected but that I should ignore, report..., or relaunch - all of which do absolutely nothing and even when I reinstall disc 1 that came with the computer, nothing changes. I can use none of the other software applications - can't open a emailed file on word or use office etc., etc. I can use the internet and itunes and things like this. I really am quite a beginer with this machine and computers in general - so please be nice.

OK...

i really do apologize for sounding like a broken record in my recent posts... especially when there are far more knowledgeable users here. As great and wonderful as Macs are, they aren't bullet proof. While installing and uninstalling a variety of software packages, I've triggered more than one psychotic episode for my poor Mac. OS X crashing, programs quitting unexpectedly, everything running PAINFULLY slow, the whole shebang. I can't tell you what was really wrong with my Mac but I can say running the cleaning routines found in a program called Onyx fixed it every time. It's probably not the best program out there and I can't say it's 100% infallible either... all I can say is that it has always worked for me. Who is to say if you have the same problems I had but this might be a good place to start.

Hope this helps.
