x86
I've done about 5 installs on my newe1505, and here is a report: Machine setup: 1.66Ghz Core Duo 1680x1050 screen on GMA950 1GB RAM 40GB HD Tried installing with: myzar patched 10.4.5 DVD Things working on all configurations: - Graphics (QE/CE, customizable resolution) - Network (both Wireless and Ethernet. Wifi can be toggled with keyboard shortcuts Fn+F2) - CD Burner recognized, but haven't tried burning Things not working: - onboard sound (workaround: USB sound card) - ACPI functions (no battery reporting, no waking up from sleep) Unsure: - Unsure if speedstep works. The battery life I got seems to be too long for running at full throttle (2.5+ hours, and still going on standard battery). Is there a tool to check your current clock? Installs tried: 10.4.5+AMD+Dual core enabled: only boots to single user mode 10.4.5+Dual core enabled - boots, but stutters, especially on video 10.4.5+Dual core disabled - no glitches, enabling dual core after reboot results in booting to single user mode No_patch+Dual core disabled - no glitches. enabling dual core after reboot boots, but results in major video glitches (flashing screen etc) booting with platform=ACPI flag has no impact on anything. So to summarize: Everything either works or there is a workaround for except for multi-core support, and ACPI/sleep functionality. Single core is not a major problem, the performance is still quite good, but no waking up from sleep is a show stopper. Anyone has any insight about what can be done about this (fixing sleep, and enabling battery indicator in UI). If nothing else - is there a way to disable sleep on lid close, to prevent machine dying every time i want to move it? Thanks.
