tallyz
First of all, I introduce myself and apologize for my English, I'm from Spain and I need more practice. I'll try to explain myself. I've two macbooks, the first one (C2D 2Ghz, black) came with Tiger OS X, later I bought a retail version of Leopard and I replaced the old Tiger with this new one. The other one is a macbook pro 15" and I bought it two moths ago, it came with leopard preinstalled and a leopard DVD, the problem comes when I try to install Vista in this one to hace the two SO in the machine. I don't know what were wrong, the thing is that I weren't able to boot in Leopard anymore. So, I though, no problem, I'll search for Leopard DVD (retail) and reinstall it, but we are moving from one house to another and we have hundreds of boxes travelling from Spain to Belgium, so the Leopard that came with the macbook pro is in one of those boxes. Nevertheless, I have with me the retail version I bought for my other macbook, the problem is that the Macbook Pro refuses to boot from that dvd, it can see it, because if I press ALT while booting, there's an option to boot from it but when I select it as boot media, it takes 2 seconds reading and then it shows a black screen and reboot automatically. So I searched for snow leopard and tryied it, the computer allows me to install it but the keyboard/trackpad isn't working at all (do you know where are the controllers?) I'm crazy with this stoy, I will be in Belgium in two months and I'll find the dvd I need there, but I'd like to work with it till that day! do you know some way to install Leopard from the retail version? I've tried to install it from my other macbook, booting the pro in target mode, but, although I'm able to install it to the hardisk, the pro won't boot. Any help will be welcomed, thanks in advance. Stylez
i guess its not possible with your retail dvd, because your mbp is newer than your dvd and so some necessery files are missing (i guess). installing it from your other macbook cannot work, because your mb then thinks of installing its own system with its own specs on an external drive, not fitting your mbp system. U.C.
Install in Target Disk Mode, then apply 10.5.6 on the MBP. It should work. BTW OSX is NOT like Windows, thus flat-images work.
