Hey.

I'm using my osx86 for some time already. Maybe even a half year. I've got a lot of problems, and I've leared how to solve much of them. But I have some feelings that my performance... sucks.

I can run all applications pretty well, I have graphic acceleration in iTunes/iMovie but I've got feeling like I'm on machine just a bit faster than my old PPC 1,33.

Of course I can use basic applications, but problems start when I try to run some games - even those old ones, like Unreal 2004 or Ford Racing 2 - usually I got a big slideshow then. Damn, even my DosBOX has a slideshow while I'm trying to run Aladdin or Settlers 2!

So I'm gonna give you my specifications and xbench log and I hope you will look at it and give me some tips is it OK or not, and if no - what should I do?

My specs:

Gigabyte p31-ds3l, BIOS: version 9 (up to date)

2,6 GHz Core 2 Duo e4700

2x 1GB 800mhz DDR2 RAM

nVidia 8800GT

HP w2207h monitor

Distro: Kalyway 10.5.2 (10.5.5 usualy but I just got fresh install) + nvinject driver

Again, thanks in advance for any info! :)

Might be your motherboard... maybe no 1333 / 1066 FSB support?

I have a 8800 GT as well and I'm scoring twice as fast as you. Also running 10.5.5

P31 seems like a older model

also make sure you're not on CPU=1

Thank you for answer. You helped me with cpu=0, I have no idea why I had cpu=1 (and what does this cpu=0/1 means, but whatever ;) )

Now OSX starts significantly faster. I've lost lags on DosBOX! Untreal Tournament 2004 works much better now but I still got some lags from time to time.

My xbench got up to 78 from 61, graphics up to 30% higher and user interface graphic higher by 100%!

So thanks for the tip, kenkenc; and If you guys got any other tips how to make my gpu works little faster than ~100 in xbench (3250 megaflops in Power Fractal) let me know please :dev:

Thanks again! You made my day :)
