Apple sued Wired for posting a video in which is explained how to install Hackintosh on a MSI netbook. The video describes the steps necessary to install the OS and have it fully working, including changing the wireless card to be able to access internet.

"Update: Apple is not suing Wired over the Hackintosh tutorial. My misunderstanding."

Update2 @ gizmodo

Wired got back to us. The official story is that they're not being sued, but they have pulled the video after reviewing Apple's complaint about it.

Its great that wired has caught on to the hackintosh world, but frankly I find it highly disrespectful that they rarely give credit to any of its members, and act as if they are the first and only ones to have OSx86. Really, they've done nothing and yet...

Although I understand their party-line at Apple, and after all - corporate litigators need love too  - even filing complaints against the media for reporting on news is a sad comment in and of itself. I have to wonder what the future holds for Apple - not speculating, just wondering...

I mean here's a company that acts as if it's products are so great they can save the world from famine and disease - and hey, why not - I think Steve Jobs thinks that to some extent. However, when you have hardware refreshes less often than some automakers - how long can you expect to gain traction in a market that is constantly drawn to the 'latest and greatest'. Not to mention that today's consumers are far more fickle and transient than ever before.

Of course, there is the fanboy effect - but that can only take you so far and for so long... JMHO YMMV.

You can't sue someone for putting up a video

No but you could sue them for breaking the license agreement, which clearly states that you are not allowed to assist or help anyone to install OS X on a non-Apple machine.... This is why the turtle known as Wired removed the video and crawled back into their shell.

Oh an youtube has been sued many times before, including Viacom’s one billion dollar lawsuit against youtube.

rofl if Apple actually sued them Apple would fall in line with the most mentally challenged companies in history. You can't sue someone for putting up a video, look at YouTube for example, there is a ton of copyrighted stuff there

If I put up a video on how to kill a man in the slowest, most torturous way possible and someone did it, I'd have the holy hell sued out of me. If I put up a video showing how to circumvent the door sensors at a store and someone did it, I'd have the holy hell sued out of me. If I put up a video about how to do copyright infringement/license agreement breaking/whatever the {censored} the current term for it is and someone does it, I'd have the holy hell sued out of me. See a pattern here? Videos about illegal activities get the holy hell sued out of you.

Youtube has been sued several times before over copyright infringement and anyone can report a video for copyright infringement and have it removed.
