arbee10
Ok, well as the title says I am just about at my wits end trying to get the Iatkos 5i to install. I have previously installed Kalyway 10.5.2, iatkos 4a working, but rebuilt my system to Intel (thought it would be easier for the mac os), and am continualy running into trouble. My system: Intel q8200 Gigabyte GA-EP45-ds3l f9bios 8800gt 500gb seagate sata drive 120gb WD pata drive LG 20x sata dvd-rw ahci on speedstep off Ok so anyways, I originally bought a cheap combo that came with an ECS board. I could install iatkos 5i, but could not get it to actually start the OS. After doing some more research I saw the chances of that working were pretty hopeless, and the Gigabyte boards were overwhelmingly the way to go. So I changed out my board, and now I can't even get through the installation. It completely freezes every time I try to install and can never get more than maybe 10% through. I have tried pretty much every configuration I could think of, and can get nothing to work. My only thought now is if there is a problem trying to install it to my pata drive (jmicron controller)? It installed on the previous board and I include the jmicron kext on configuration but is a no go. I would prefer to keep it off my sata drive as the space is needed, but does anyone have ANY clue as to what my problem might be or if this hard drive seems to be the issue? Like I said I have tried virtually every config option applicable, but here are a few for reference sake: PC-EFI Chameleon SMBIOS-imac appledecrypt dsmos All 3 modified kernal options disabler OHR thermal powermanagement nvidia inject + 8800gt 512mb efi intel sata ahci jmicron I am sure I didnt mention a few, but just wanted to give an idea of every option I have tried. I have looked pretty extensively, and have seen that both chip and board should be working with total ease.. Please help, I appreciate any help you can give me Thanks. Switcher007
I also strugged with iATKOS until I installed iDeneb. See my hardware config in my sig and it's very similar to yours, hope it helps. arbee10
Thanks for the suggestion, guess I will have to look for that version right now as I haven't ever really read much about it. I was wondering though, are you running it off a PATA or SATA drive? Did you have much trouble with iDeneb? Also curious what issues you had with iAtkos. Thanks for the help. Has anyone else had these issues with Iatkos? I thought this board was supposed to install pretty easily (well.. as we all know nothing like this is ever EASY lol), and quite surprised at how many issue i have had. Thanks again for all the help, hopefully will get this done and working soon! arbee10
Anyone else installing iatkos, or any other distro to a regular ol pata drive? I can't seem to get a good ideneb link (stupid rapidshare), and am really hoping maybe it just has to do with me installing on to the pata? Switcher007
Anyone else installing iatkos, or any other distro to a regular ol pata drive? I can't seem to get a good ideneb link (stupid rapidshare), and am really hoping maybe it just has to do with me installing on to the pata? For me, with iATKOS I remembered it did not even finish installation. I am running all SATA drives and have PATA disabled, AHCI enabled. Installing on PATA is probably harder. My iDeneb install is very stable and is my everyday computer. arbee10
So did you have any troubles with the Ideneb install/configuration? Is it upgradeable like iatkos 5i can be? I got Kalyway 10.5.2 to install with very little trouble on the same system last night, and am tempted to just stay with it and be done with it..... but well, it really doesn't compare to the newer releases, I just wish these installs weren't such a hassle...
