Anyway after a week of struggling and some trial and error (which includes at least 7 install of Windows and 4 install of OS X) ... I've managed to do a dual boot using the patched DVD of the 10.4.5

However there are some "issues" that I would like to resolve, so if anyone can offer any help and suggestion of a possible fix, I would gladly appreciate.

First of all I have a DVD-ROM and CD-RW drive, but OS X only show the DVD-ROM. They are both connected to the same IDE connector (on Master - Slave configuration). Both are recognized together by Windows, and work individually on OS X (if I disconnect the one of the drive). I have searched the forum, and there was a user (I believe it was liebowa who asked the exact same question. But I did not see any conclusion to this problem.

My second problem, is that yesterday when I was using the OS X suddenly the DVD drive just spin up and down by itself and making very high pitching noises which was very eerie, and after that it just died. It still powers up and all, and both Windows and OS X can still detect it but the drive just refuses to read any disc (CD or DVD). Did OS X messed it up by any chance? Or it's just a coincidence that it died when I was using OS X.

So if anyone can help on these two questions I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh my system config is as follows

CPU: Pentium D 805

Motherboard: P5LD2-VM

Memory: 2 GB DDR2 OCZ

Harddrive: 250 GB Maxtor (SATA)

Optical drive: LiteOn DVD-ROM (the one that died) and BenQ CD-RW

PS: By the way I installed OS X using PS2 keyboard/mouse and it worked perfectly now without any mod to any of the kext at all. The only kext I have to change was the AppleAzaliaAudio.kext mod to enable the sound card output.

I think OSX only sees the DVD-ROM drive and not the CD-RW because it only supports IDE on the ICH7 bridge. As for the DVD-ROM burn out.. I'm not too sure as I don't think anyone else has exprienced that.. perhaps it's just a coincidence.

Congrats on getting your dual-boot working by the way

Actually the DVD and CD drives were connected to the IDE controller from the ICH7 bridge (my harddrive is a SATA drive) ... could this be just the case that since Mac's are shipping with just one optical drive so they basically just enable support for one optical drive?

Thing is I've seen several people saying in this forum that they can get two optical drives to work on their "Hackintosh", so I'm quite sure the configuration is supported.

In any case since I'm going to replace the DVD drive that broke, I'll post again if the two drives can be detected together with a new DVD drive.
