Change Of Cpu On A Power G5

Hey wise ones,. B)

 

I own a Power mac G5 whit a 2Ghz Dual core 2 on a socket LGA 755..

I found a Quadcore Xeon on the internet to a fair price that matches the socket LGA 755..

 

I's I't possible to simply exchange them..??

 

I will carriage an answer...

Do you mean a Mac Pro? Or a Hackintosh? What does it say when you click the Apple button then "About this Mac"? There's no such thing as a G5 on socket 775.

 

You can't exchange a G5 for a Quad Core Xeon. You can exchange a Core 2 Duo for a Quad Core Xeon, if you have the right motherboard.

You're a lucky owner of Dual PowerPC processor Mac ;-)

And you'll need to stick to PowerPC (Intel won't work...)

Anyway - your setup isn't that bad (I wish I have something like this ;-)).

So you are saing that theres no chance for exchangen the cpu to a quad core xeon..??
