Have you seen the new 13" Aluminum Macbook? My god after watching that video I went from wanting to build a Hackintop to really wanting this new Macbook. Finally a good reason to buy one. Unfortunately for Apple I wont be trading in my Hackintosh for an iMac anytime soon since I just got a beautiful 32" Sony LCD monitor. What are you thoughts on the New Macbook?

I really like mine: http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/4346/dsc01118rd8.jpg

It's an awesome machine, not too big (17" HP monstrosity was too big, sold it), EeePC 700 was too small (still have it), this one is just right.

It gets a little hot when compiling under xcode, or when doing a lot of large file transfers, but aside from that I have no complaints about it. Battery lasts more than 4 hours regularly, HD video works fine, and it's nice to not have to hack a computer to work with OS X for once hehe.

Well, I really like it, it's an awesome machine. If you're in search of a laptop I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it unless you're a hardcore gamer, in which case I'd upgrade to the MBP with the awesome graphics card (a friend has it, it's nice).

I'm not gonna buy one for a while now that I have it, it's one of those "I feel complete" feelings lol.

I am looking to buy a MacBook, but I'm torn as to which to buy. Don't need for anything much, bit of typing, the obvious video music and web browsing tc. But I have Matlab for Mac and will try and get SolidEgde, and I was wondering if anyone ran anything like this (CAD) on their standard macbooks. If it runs fine then I have no need for a MBP (thought theyre a bit big anyway) but if not it ight convince me to go for the bigger

ps. I have a Core 2 Quad 2.66GHz for that stuff now, but wouldnt mind the option of doing it on the move..

(This is why i should have got a mac pro for my 18th instead of my dell :@)

i like my alu macbook, and i liked my white macbook before, and before that my powerbook .......

the design of the new macbooks is great, but what is dislike is, that they get pretty warm when you do just something more than surfing/chatting.

I recently got a new Macbook Aluminum.. it's really nice. I traded in my Dell Vostro laptop that was fully loaded in specs and dropped down in specs in order to get the low end Macbook, but the build quality and being able to use OS X without any modifications makes it worth it even though I had to end up spending like $500 more for a lower specced laptop. ^_^

I have the 2.4GHz model, as you can see in my sig. It's by far the best computer I've ever owned. I wrote a review on it, I'll fetch a link to it... Here it is.

I've the 2.4GHz model as well, and I'd have to agree with Wrenbird...its the best computer I've ever owned. This is my first true Mac, but in all honesty I don't think I would have gotten one had I not built a hackintosh to begin with. There is a lot to be said for the feeling to be able to use a true mac. The Aluminum case is very sturdy, backlit keyboard is awesome and is definitely a step up in performance from previous MB. My cousin has a white MB, dad Black MB and we were all comparing at Christams. If you were thinking about getting one the $1600 for the 2.4GHz model is worth every penny IMO. Apple has made a solid product with this offering...for once, I'm finally happy with my choice of computers.
