Ok, so I am wondering if I can run a Mac with this hardware, I also want to know any pitfalls because of my hardware. Thank you!

MSI K9A2 CF-F V2 Motherboard

ATI HD 4850 Graphics Card

AMD Phenom 9850 BE Processor

Oh, also tell me what drivers i would need to choose during the iDeneb installation.

Thank you, again!

Tell me if you need anymore information! ;)

I will be installing 10.5.5 by the way!

I actually found out that I have to use Lawless PPC 10.5.4.

I still need to know what the downfalls of not having a driver for my graphics card will be since there is not one for the HD 4850. Also, if there is anything I need to do in the install, please help me out, thank you. I am mainly worried about my graphics card right now.

If you do not choose any video drivers when installing OS X you should hopefully be able to run in VESA mode......at present run in VESA mode (by deleting all ATI*.kexts, Ge*.kexts and NV*.kexts.....showing no kext loaded in System Profiler under Graphics/Displays) and try "Graphics Mode"="1280x1080x32@60" mode between <string></string> line below <key>Kernel Flags</key> in com.apple.Boot.plist., substituting your screen resolution for 1280x1080......

Thank you for your quick reply.

Could you maybe post a link to a tutorial on how to do this?

Also, if I run in VESA mode, does the computer work slower, or just graphically slower (like the UI is slowwer the computer speed is the same)?

Thank you!

1. After rebooting by typing -s at the boot: prompt and waiting for the prompt

:/ root# to appear, type each of the following lines, followed by Enter and then waiting for :/ root# to re-appear:

mount -uw /

rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce.kext

rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/Ge*.kext

rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/NV*.kext

rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/ATI*.kext

followed finally by exit.

"logout" will then appear on screen followed by "Jettisoning kernel linker" and the rest of the verbose booting screen, resulting in successful booting into the OS X Welcome screen and music.....

2. The System Profiler shows under Graphics/Displays, 1024x768 resolution 32-bit Color depth and 32MB VRAM with Software Driven CI and QE Not Supported, and against Kernel Extension Info: No kext loaded

3. Modified the com.apple.Boot.plist file as follows:

1. Go to the Terminal, and at the $ prompt, type in

sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

2. Enter your password when requested. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to move the cursor within the Terminal window.

3. Type in (without any spaces anywhere except where there are spaces)

"Graphics Mode"="1280x1080x32@60" BUT as I said using your display resolution.....

between <string> and </string> under <key>Kernel Flags</key>.

4. Move the cursor the Terminal window down until it no longer moves, then press Ctrl O and then Enter, to save the modified com.apple.Boot.plist file.

5. Press Ctrl X to Exit and type "exit" at the $ prompt to log out of the Terminal and then close and quit Terminal.

Wow, thanks again!

Now, the last question I have, will VESA slow down my GPU?

In VESA mode you will not enjoy hardware acclerated Core Image functions and Quartz Extreme support, and so will have 32MB VRAM with Software Driven CI and QE Not Supported.........

I know, I'm going to get a HD 2600XT, but I'm just wondering if you enable VESA mode before or after the installation, for future reference.

Enable VESA mode after installation......if none of the kext to be be removed are loaded as part of the base system you may boot into VESA mode directly, needing only to modify com.apple.Boot.plist......
