Hi,

I was upgrading my Retail DVD installation from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 when the installation got stuck and I rebooted the desktop. It boots okay into the OSX and everything seems okay though on shutdown, it won't really turn off. Other than that, all things are fine. A few weeks later (now), I can only boot into desktop for a second before it stucks. The mouse won't respond and basically it's stuck.

I tried getting in via Safe Mode, but it's still persist. Basically once you can see the mouse, it stucks. Anything to do with a corrup kext?

No errors in verbose whatsoever. What could be the issue and how do I solve this?

My setup is as follows:

Gigabyte EP45-DS3l w/ Intel 8400 @ 3Ghz

Kingston Valuram 2 x 2GB DDR-800

XFX GeForce 9600 GT 512MB on nvDarwin drivers

Creative Audigy 2 Value on kxAudio drivers

AHCI is on in BIOS

Chameleon + EFI Combo bootloader.

TIA!

try another install then use the new install to

update the first one to 10.5.6

(works easier-just download the combo update from apple and run it in installer, but select the first hard drive as the destination)

did you delete AppleintelCPUPowerManagement.kext?

read netkas.org about how to prepare for the update

Yeah, I deleted the kext that you mentioned and it still got panicked. Okay, will try to use the combo installer to fix the issue I was having.

Just checking, is there an alternative to using the combo updated via a Windows installation? I won't have access to an alternate Mac platform until next week.

you cant do the combo update from windows

i meant creating another mac install from your retail disk or whatever you used

and install the combo update from the new install but using the old install as the target

(confusing?)

you can't delete AppleintelCPUPowerManagement.kext and update in your install

you need a disabler.kext
