klaafstra99
Hi Hackies, I have a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R, so I should be lucky having a compatible mainboard. Also, I have a 8800GTS 640 Meg. Never had any major problems with most distributions until the release of 10.5.6. I've tried the DSDT patch, the EFI v9 bootloader and I tried to replace some disk related kexts immediately after installing 10.5.6 before the reboot, but: I am stuck with a 'waiting for root device' or just a hanging hackintosh during the boot process. Is there anyone out there who has succeeded installing 10.5.6. on a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R and willing to share the great magic trick with the community? gica69
Even though your entry was a while back I got to ask if you updated successfully.I did it yesterday ,full update only not the 300meg one,it took out the video res and QE that was working so great in 10.5.5,I have a Visiontek X1650 pro 256meg,so I used Netkas way to remove the CPUPowerManagement kext, installed Cameleon 12,renamed the Don't killApple kext, and it rebooted but that is where the good things stopped happening to me.I tried to install the ATi 1000 and the other one that goes with it,which I had saved from the 10.5.5 and it took me to the grey screen,I did -v and I believe it said something about the kernel not recognized or not matching ,I could go to safe mode but that's it.I reverted back to 10.5.5.I am interested in updating as soon as someone shares more success especially with this board and my x1650 pro. nexidus
I am using a x1600xt 512mb silent which is much less common and I have continued to have success with my x1000 and ATIinject kexts through all the updates up to and including 10.5.6. I am vanilla also. Here is a link to the thread that helped me put together my version of the kexts I needed. It works every single time for me. I wish you the same luck. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...&hl=x1600xt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/142407-1056-on-a-gigabyte-ga-p35c-ds3r/#findComment-1115897 Share on other sites
