Wman
My dad said he's but me a display for my mac and I've always wanted a new alu cinema display (as I've been using the old ADC CRT screen). Is it wise to buy a 20" or 23" aluminum cinema display (noot the new 24" macbook one, as its too expensive)? Or should I wait 'till January Macworld. Is there a chance they'll release new ones, 'cause, if they do, I ll either get one of those, or get the old aluminum ones for cheaper second hand once they become "old". (my dad could also buy the display in January) What would you suggest? Berzerker
They've discontinued the 23" model. My opinion is they will only have a 24" and a 30", and the 30" will be even more expensive than the 24". Wman
You don't think they'll make a new 20" screen? Do you think, if they do, they might make prices better, as that seems to have been people's main complaint, but it is apple I guess. I really don't think they'll have anything smaller than a 24", and they might decrease the price by $100-200, not that much (off the 30"). Wman
k thanx. I guess its the old one for me though (although, right after xmas and with a new one release, i should get a good price used). Maybe I'll even be able to get the 23". The old display goes better with my case anyways and I don't liek glossy, although i would like a built in iSight and Speakers. weaksauce12
In my opinion no. The Cinema displays are like 4 years old now - Dell has MUCH better displays with MORE features for LESS money. I bought a 24" Dell and it has everything from S-Video to DVI input, it rotates, swivels, and tilts, and has a built-in USB hub. The new ones are ridiculously good (110%+ color gamut and whatnot) and a few hundred cheaper than their Apple counterparts. The new 24" LED is pretty sweet, but only for laptops until they release (maybe) some sort of adapter kit. I'd either buy a Dell, or hold off to see what Macworld has to offer (if anything). NEC already has a 30" LED display out (for some time now), so I wouldn't be surprised to see Apple debut one in January. btw love the avatar & sig, Bill the Cat fans are few and far between these days Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141845-wise-to-buy-a-cinema-display/#findComment-1011811 Share on other sites
