cm0s
Hello all, During my attempt to update my system to 10.5.6, the installation panic'd during the install and now the system panics every boot. I thought I had installed cameleon correctly because it showed next to the darwin loader text when the system is booting. After installing cameleon I did the update, I didn't do anything with voodoo or anything to remove the ACPI files or anything. Basically I screwed up somehow and don't know how. Can you help me? Can I solve the problem without re-installing? What do I need to do differently to boot with cameleon yet support the new EFI/10.5.6? Thank you for everything. Swhay
First of all, boot with -v to get a verbose listing of the booting process, and look for the kext that is causing the panic. Just before the bootloader comes up, press your F8 key so you can get the prompt that will allow you to enter boot flags. cm0s
It was the IntelCPUPowermanagement.kext file or whatever. I'm going to try and replace it with the one from 10.5.5 like netkas suggests. any other suggestions? Ardman
I had a similar issue. My PC crashed and I lost everything, so I reinstalled 10.5.4 and followed this guide last night: http://insanelymac.blogspot.com/2008/12/prepare-your-hackintosh-for-updating-to.html My machine is now running 10.5.6 without any issues (well, Time Machine isn't working but I'm ok with that) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141217-update-to-1056-kernel-panic-help/#findComment-1004197 Share on other sites
