sam_in_chicago
Buoyed by my recent success building a monster rig (well, to me, anyway), I'd like to take on replacing the G4 Alubook that my wife is currently using as her "kitchen computer." Basically, we have a 1GHz Alubook with a dead LCD hooked by DVI to an LCD TV. This is what she uses to check email, watch Hulu, charge her iPod Touch, listen to iTunes, etc. The G4 is really dragging - is more than a few firefox windows are open the thing starts to grind to a halt. I'd like to build something small/thin and cheap to replace this functionality. It need not be an HTPC. I would think something on the order of a core-solo mini would suffice. It needs to be able to work with her iPod Touch and supporting the BT keyboard would be nice. I was thinking of a shuttle, but I would like something slim if possible, that I could just slide in one of the cabinets or something. I've read through a few threads dedicated to the "mini hackintosh" but they seem more focussed on the HTPC aspect of things. Thanks for the advice.
