Hello everybody,

I have a problem that is driving me mad and even if I read many posts about that I cant fugure it out.

If I build on my hackintosh more then 2 gb of ram, like 3 or 4, it freezes suddenly, apparently without kernel panic or anything else, it just freezes as soon it start to boot and doesn't go further, I try to post a picture hoping it helps.

I'm using kalyway updated to 10.5.5 with all updates already done and kernel Voodoo_beta_2, but I also tried with vanilla 10.5.5 and I hade almost same results.

For my hardware configuration just look on my signature.

I used the patch IOATAFamily.kext_V1.1 of Dune but since I use ahci it doesn't help.

I disabled jmicron from bios and deleted the kext and AppleVIAATA too but nothing has changed.

I just tried to use the kernel flag "maxmem=2048" too, same problem.

I disabled memory remapping in bios, same problem.

The problem can be some others kext or the bios version?

I just run out of ideas, any suggestions?

Thanks all.

I'm running the exact same board with 8GB of 1066 memory. I haven't ran anything less than 4gb on it either so it's not a problem with the model.

Put the 4GB in it and try to load up an install dvd like Jas 10.5.4 or iAtkos 5i or Leo4all v3. If it loads install it onto a spare partition and see if the partition boots.

It could also be a timing problem - are you sure the corsair ram is specd to 4-4-4-12? I've mucked around with ram timings before and had OSX choke.

If not it could be a bad board?

Still good idea to disable Jmicron and disable memory remap as they have cause me no end of troubles.

Hi,

Sys as in sig. I had some random freezes with more than 2 GB, which was due to corrupted memory modules ... haven´t stepped to 1220 yet, but with 1013 8GB are fine on this board. Did you enable memory remapping (don´t remember exact name of that function) in BIOS?

Goron

edit: by the way, why do you use Voodoo kernel? With your config it is able run almost totally vanilla ... perhaps try another kernel ...
