calebH
Hey all- I'm at wits end here. I've tried 2 dif't dlink cards (DWA-542, and G510 rev b ) both with atheros chips, and they work like a dream out of the box... for like 10 minutes. Then, they lose the wireless (not the network, they lose the card, I think, they show no network) until I reboot. I've seen other people with a similar problem, but for all the searching, no definitive solution. SO: 1) Is there a way to fix this? I've tried different versions of the IO80211family kext, all to no avail. Either it doesn't find the card, or it finds it and then has this problem. 2) Is there a card (hopefully for $60 or less) that I can buy that will DEFINITELY work? Something I can find? All the stuff I find uses Atheros or RT61 chips, or something else buggy or not supported. 3) Is the problem something other than my wifi card? System info below. Everything else is working like a dream (after some tweaking). Anyone have any ideas? -Caleb System: CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (Kentsfield) Video: XFX GeForce 8600 GT Video Card (512mb) Mobo: EVGA nForce 680i SE SLI HDD: WD Caviar 500GB Serial ATA HD RAM: Corsair XMS2 DHX Dual Channel PC6400 (1gb x 4) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/139204-wifi-network-dropouts-1052-with-d-link-cards/ Share on other sites
calebH
I've installed a modified IO80211family.kext, same issue, I tried editing the AirportAtheros.kext and adding my vid/pid to it, no change. Any other ideas out there? Could it be another piece of hardware interfering with my wifi card? It seems odd that it works fine and then doesn't. I've been paying close attention to my actions as well, and there's no trigger for this. If I boot up and walk away and come back 20 minutes later, it's lost it. If I sit there and surf the web, it drops it while I'm in the middle of loading a page. It's really annoying that this is the only piece I'm missing, but it's so crucial that I might have to scrap the whole install and put XP on my machine if I can't get it to work. This is a desperate cry for help! I'm a man on the edge of commiting Hackintoshacide!
