net101 Posted November 26, 2008 Share Posted November 26, 2008 System Specification: Asus W3H00A Laptop Intel Pentium M 740 (1.7GHz) (SSE2) Graphics - Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS/910ML RAM - 2GB HD (IDE) - 80GB newly installed (empty/No OS) DVD Drive - Internal IDE 1) After pressing F8 and typing -v flag, installation begun errors picked-up as follows: in6_ifattach: Lo0 failed to attach a linklocal address Kextd[47] - can't add repository (not a directory) Resetting I0Catalogue kextd[47] - root filesystem is read-only; skipping link data integration then, just Blue Screen. DVD stopped spinning. Nothing happens after that. 2) Tried again but this time used flag -x Installation proceeded and after installation "Restart" is requuired. Then just a blinking cursor. 3) Tried this commands to resolve issue ( so I thought): fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 (return) flag 1 (return) update (return) write (return) then prompted with: 'Device could not be accessed exclusively' typed in: 'y' (return) and quit Result: Blinking cursor (unresolved) P.S. New to Mac here but experienced in Windows, trying out Mac for future laptop. This is my very first post. Please help will be very greatful for any advise. Many thanks.
