JeanG
Hi there, Im' leaving for an instant the french subforum, and present my test with the "new" Dell Vostro Laptop A860, i bought 2 month ago. I will make short beacause my english so bad that you won't understant ainything (sory for my poor english). For thoses experiments, i used differents iso of leo : ideneb 1.3, Kaliway, leo4all, Iaktos .... and finally, i keep the ideneb 1.3 wich seems the more usefull for this laptop (tell me if i'm wrong). The laptop is here : http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/con...top-vostro-a860 What is working : - Intel Pentium Dual Core T2390 : ok, find 2 core - Intel Graphics X3100 : ok QE/CI enable - bluetooth : ok - firewire : ok - Battery management : ok - keyboard : ok - usb : ok - sound : ok (but can't use the headphone) The system run fast and is very pleasant to use What doesn't work : - wireless AR5007x wifi : it can't recognize it. i try a lot of thing ... but i think i'm going to buy another pcie on ebay wich work on leo. - touchpad : i don't know how to do ... i'm using an usb mouse but it sucks - i think i've got same probleme like CompCrasher86 with his dell : when leo start, the screen turn off and the system still going on : what i'm doing : fn key + the "sleep" key then leo appear on screen. I don't understand why it make that. If someone have a solution ... - Modem, 3-1 Reader are not recognize, but i don't care at the moment. if you have any solutions to various problems of my installation, do not hesitate to post here. I would be very grateful. Soon Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/137216-dell-vostro-a860/ Share on other sites
yourboyvic
my brother wants me to hack his laptop, which is the same as yours. If I run into some trouble I'd hope that you'd help me out the same way I am helping you out. I did some research on your issues... for atheros drivers for mac you should look at orangeware http://www.orangeware.com/endusers/wirelessformac.html you can download trial software limited to 10 mins to test, then pay $15.00usd to use it permanently... googling 'dell vostro a860 touchpad info' lead me to Alps touchpad driver then googling 'osx86 alps touchpad driver' lead me to the 3rd party drivers page on the osx86 wiki http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/3rdPartyDrivers (firefox string Find) cmd +f or ctrl +f for either 'Alps' or 'phb'. phb is the guy who wrote the driver I presume alps is the name of the touchpad manufacturer once you find that, or scroll down to it, it will lead you to an insanelymac link. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...419&hl=alps follow phb's lead and you should be in better shape than before pls report/PM your results Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/137216-dell-vostro-a860/#findComment-1161285 Share on other sites
