onemanstrash
I was so happy to plug in and use my lovely new apple aluminum wired apple keyboard. All worked perfectly. All until i restarted. My bios hung at 'initializing usb controllers.......' It will never boot. I had to unplug my Aluminum KB and plug back in my macally kb. The only way i could get it to work was if i set the bios usb controller to 12mbps it would work. I was very upset. So i went to the Asus web site to find out it was not a mac problem, but an Asus problem as other usb devices also prevent booting, and the mac keyboard works fine on many other PC's used as Hackintoshes. So I kept looking at the Asus forum and the very last post said that the latest bios just released this month (bios 1202) fixes these usb problems at boot. I downloaded it and Viola! Just thought i would share this as I couldn't find any posts about it here. vh2008
I've got the exact same problem! But, my board is the P5K-Deluxe/WiFi-AP. I had already updated to the latest BIOS for my board, for the newer CPU, but it is not doing anything for the Apple USB keyboard issue! I did get everything put together...with E8400 cpu, 8GB G-Skill 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 512GB EVGA 9800GT Video Card...I started with OSX 10.5.2, then upgraded to 10.5.4, then to 10.5.5. It was a little process of trial and error...searching the internet for all the best "instructions". I did have to come up with patches for the video card and the audio...but, both work fine now. I believe the only thing, not working, is the WiFi setup. But, this Apple keyboard issue is a BIG problem (to me)!! It's definitely a motherboard issue, as when it is booted with the Apple KB plugged in, it does not output any video to the monitor. Not sure if it is booting or not...no error beeps...but, no video signal. Any help would be great!! Maybe just have to wait for BIOS update!?!? Hey vh2008, i used to have the p5w-dh deluxe and that was the best mobo for hackintosh, also my first. I know that the wifi works, just download the realtek driver for leopard as these guys did http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=91261. Second I know others that are using the p5w-dh deluxe with the aluminum keyboard. Here is a link, i don't know if you updated the KB to the latest firmware update. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=721658 Hope that helps and enjoy your new build, it looks good. Thanks for the help!! I just tried the keyboard firmware update...same thing, still won't boot (or at least show video when booting). I tend to think that it will take some kind of motherboard firmware update (which I have the latest)...which sucks! Re: the WiFi...maybe I'll play around with that a little bit...not sure if I'm gonna end up using it for much, even if it is working. I had started computing with an Atari 400...then moved on to a Commodore Amiga 1000...then to PC's ever since. Had played with Apple IIc's in high school...but, this is my first "real" Mac...I'm diggin it!! I'll be trying out VMWare Fusion next...to see how the PC progs run on here. So far...I LOVE it!! Thanks again for the help!! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/137037-apple-aluminum-wired-keyboard-p5k-e-work/#findComment-971865 Share on other sites
bluehiro
Hey, major thanks for posting this information. I've been waiting for a new patch to come out for the P5K-E to fix all the USB problems. I actually flashed back to 0906 which didn't have any problems with my mac keyboard. Of course that means I was missing out on a lot of bug fixes so I'm glad they finally released 1202. I'll be trying it in the next couple of days, see how it goes. hmm... 1202 update + Boot132=time to reinstall OSX on my Hackintosh!
