apolloae
I am going to reformat my computer, then start this process from scratch; is there a manual for how to go about doing this from, basically, square one? I would like to (before I install Windows and such) split my harddrive into three partitions, one required for Dell Diagnostics materials that I want to keep, one for XP, and one for OSX, then install both of the OSs on their own partitions and then create a dualboot for them. I'm pretty sure a guide is out there, I just figured I could get a recommendations and links from you guys since you all know so very much about this process. Thanks guys. U.C.
Use partition magic bootable floppy/bootable parttiton utility -Leave Dells partition alone. -Create Primary Win Partition -Install Windows -Use the diskpart utility to create a Primary partiton with id=af and size=<Whtever u need> -Boot with OSX dvd and install on the created drive NOTE: Maximum number of Primary Partitions are 4, So this is wht i wanted 1) Dell partition 2)Windows partition 3)OSX partition 4)Music partition 5)Misc partition SO I booted with partition magic -Left the Dell partition -Created a blank 10GB part after the Dell partition -Created Windows partition -Created Extended partition which held Music and Misc -Installed Windows, ran diskpart -deleted 10 GB partition -Now created 10GB id=af, OSX partition -As the only unallocated space on my disk was the 10Gb partition i just deleted, the OSX partition was created there -Installed OSX Small Guide to diskpart -Goto run -type cmd press enter -type diskpart -Diskpart will start and show DISKPART> -Type list disk -Type select disk 0 (If u want to part ur first disk) -To create a 10GB OSX partition type "create partition primary id=af size=10240" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13642-point-me-in-the-direction-of/#findComment-86900 Share on other sites
