Aurora
Hey y'all, I recently bought an older game, Homeworld 2, one of the best space-based strategy games ever made. I defy anyone to play it and doubt me on this, it's that good. Anyway, I have it for Windows and Mac. The Mac version is, *sigh*, not a universal binary, although I haven't checked around to see if they've released an update. The nice thing is, it did install on my hack mac laptop flawlessly. However, since I've got the accursed NVidia graphics card, it won't work if I run it. So the question: does anyone else have this game, and does it work okay on Intel-based machines? Thanks for feedback. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13340-homeworld-2/ Share on other sites
bigboss
same here aurora. i have hw2 for the mac.. the game runs great on my friend's 15" powerbook but the graphics card on my pc will swamp the pb.. the only thing is that it has an nvidia card which ofcourse has no opengl, qe/ci ... i suppose though that it should run fine if you limit it to say 800x600 or 1024x768. Aurora
Yup, the nVidia plaque strikes again. np_ says he's working on HW acceleration now, so maybe in the near future I'll give it another shot. bigboss
haha yep, just gotta wait until np_ works his magic (which he will i assure you ) and then we can: BRING SAJUUK TO BEAR! BRING SAJUUK TO BEAR! BRING SAJUUK TO BEAR! lol btw, cant you alternate between the integrated graphics and the nvidia card on some vaio laptops? Aurora
lol What do you mean, between integrated and nVidia? 's far as I know, there's just nVidia on Vaios. Unless you're talking about between built-in LCD and VGA, then no, I can't... yet. bigboss
hmm.. i guess that feature is only there on some models then.. its just to save power since the integrated chip sucks but also uses less power so if you are just word processing, no need to use a non-integrated power hungry card.. but here is a model which has the feature which i thought was talking about http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16834117151 nifty feature which allows you to actually choose which card you want to use. what puzzles me is how they fit it into such a small yet elegant package.. i guess thats sony (pretty $$$ though...) Aurora
0_o, never seen anything quite like that before, integrated and outboard on the same platform. Yeah, for the record, that's an SZ series notebook; I have an FS series.
