wangii
Spotlight and Dashboard are cpu and memory eaters. If you got a low score in XBench, turn them off maybe a good choice. To turn spotlight off: (Use root ) Modify file: /etc/hostconfig Change the last line from SPOTLIGHT=-YES- to SPOTLIGHT=-NO- Optional:remove the meta file from your harddisk: mdutil -E / mdutil -i off / To turn off Dashboard: defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES killall Dock Reboot. I feel a little bit better after turn them off. Do you? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1330-turn-off-spotlight-and-dashboard/ Share on other sites
Proteo
For disabling Dashboard a less radical and fancier solution can be found here: DashOnOf 1.1 The last version is Intel-compatible. HoZy
You all done it the hard way, Get "Tiger Cache Cleaner" From VersionTracker. In the special tab thats up the top you can disable/enable dock/finder/spotlight/dashboard and a lot of other cool functions Regards HoZy Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1330-turn-off-spotlight-and-dashboard/#findComment-11647 Share on other sites
