Has anyone been able to get the WiFi card (Atheros A500) to work? I got everything else besides the microphone to work great.

I really want the WiFi working though.

Thanks.

There's a AppleHDA.kext in my zipfile(few posts up) it should get your MIC working....

you also need HDAEnabler.kext....

SiteMAC: Alright, I just installed the AppleHDA.kext. Do you know if there is a working kext for the wifi card?

Also, my battery icon always says "No batteries available". Is there a kext for the battery meter?

Thanks.

@WiFi: No Drivers exists, sorry...only Solution is to replace the card (I recommend a Dell 1390)

@Battery: Have you installed all the Kexts from SticMacs-Package? If not, do so. If it still doesn't work, try this Kext here:

Btw: The iso only for the Acer Aspire One is nearly finished...everything is ready, but DVD will not boot...so let's wait...

In the zipfile is a file called :PowerManagement.bundle, copy it to the System/Library/Systemconfiguration folder and overwrite the existing one AFTER you have backed it up!!

This should give you the meter!

If I buy the Dell 1390 card, can I just put it in the extra PCI E slot or do I have to replace the existing card?

I just installed the PowerManagement.bundle and now the battery icon is gone and I can't make it show in the Energy Saver options...

I would recommend using Broadcom 802.11n BCM4321 for HP or any or any brand which has Broadcom BCM4321 chipset. Its a good upgrade to existing Atheros wireless card (since you are replacing it anyway) which cost from $20 to 30 shipped - Ebay. Drivers are included in the Kalyway install...

Best of all... you'll get wireless n speed and coverage on osx and vista/xp.

I decided to redo the machine.

I used iDeneb "iDeneb_v1.3_10.5.5_ISO" to do the initial install, Chameleon_V_1.0.11 to make it bootable and patched the kexts from my zipfile to make it fully working. This includes full graphic startup of the install including sound, which is always a good sign, Audio OUT, Internal Speaker switch, and InternalMIC! Resolution runs at full and the external monitor supports 1680x1050x32, with rotation, mirror and autoplug!

I like using AppleDecrypt instead of dsmos but that would be your choice! Also I did not compile ANY of the kexts, they are merely an compilation of already existing work, EXCEPT for the Audio kexts this is the Autoswitching kext referred to in some of the previous post, I only edited it to recognize the InternalMIC!

SticMAC

Thanks for the kext files...I installed this after completing harbot's tutorial and everything works - internal mic, autoswitching to using external monitor. I used AppleDecrypt instead of dsmos because of increased performance for the AAI. Thanks again.

Quick question..Does the iDeneb install fixed the issue "cpus=1"...I mean recognizing the AAI with 2 processors under vanilla?

I had this problem and then follow Blue-K's post...

go to http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=114105

download the original PowerManagement.bundle and replace your existing PowerManagement.bundle (use the latest version) and install the AppleACPIBatteryManage.kext . It worked on my AA1.

I've installed Kalyway_10.5.2 at my Aspire One A110.

Then i've installed "paulswinddriverutilitypack" without ACPIBattery and RealtekR100 (I've installed this one later) support.

I've installed also sound and graphics drivers.

Until here everything OK!!!

I can't get "Alt Gr" key for imputing symbols like "@" working, portuguese keyboard.

I can't get the battery indicator at the upper bar.

I can't get the USB devices connected when the operating system is already running working (They only work if they were previously connect before turning on the computer).

I can' get any fix for the main Wirelless Lan card driver to work.

Another subject: How can we tune-up performance of this operating system at Aspire One A110 with 8Gb SSD and 1,5Gb RAM?

I would appreciate any help...

Thanks!!!

The mach_kernel and the system.kext in the zipfile is from the voodoo_beta2 so it is sse2 sse3 cpus=1 "compliant" the system.kext is needed to cure the hotplug USB issues!

Hi all,

I started reading the treath weeks ago and now I've got an Acer one.

Before I start to open and kill my new toy could you please let me know (just to be sure I've clear understood):

- the os x can be installed;

- wi-fi works with few patches but only if the internal card is changed (hard work, warranty lost?)

- sound work quite finely;

- mic works with patches;

- webcam works no patches;

- sleep mode doesn't work;

- pad not working properly;

- keyboard layout recognised partially (but I know os x allow remapping);

- the patches/methods are valid for all acer one model;

any chance to get an updated full sequence of the hack? I'm not sure to follow all the bits of instruction in here...

I'm warming up the screwdriver waiting fro your kindly reply!!!

thanks

:rolleyes:

I think this:

1)Sleep should be now possible with the new Voodoo-Kernel, but only read this, can't confirm it...

2)Pad should work, just scrolling and double-tap not...(can also be done with a Patch, read this also somewhere...)

Btw: Just figured out how to make the .iso created with InstaHackintosh to boot...The specialised DVD only for Acer Aspire One should come soon...no warranty..post requests for Apps here...currently in: MacFuse, Ntfs-3g and OsX86-Tools...

so, just to update the work in progress status to everybody:

- the patches/methods all acer one model = YES ;

- sound work = YES quite finely;

- mic = YES works with patches;

- webcam = YES works no patches;

- keyboard = YES layout recognised partially (but I know os x allow remapping);

- pad = NO not 100%, only "windows-like mode" no scroll;

- wi-fi card = NO doesn't work (fix: replace card with Del DW 1390 Mini PCI E);

- ethernet = NO doesn't work (fix: RealtekR1000.kext during installation);

- sleep mode = NO doesn't work;

- battery monitor = NO doesn't work (fix: ACPIBattery.kext during installation - lack of calibration);

- USB = ?

- card reader = ?

- external VGA = ?

if someone has more updated info please let me know, I'm trying to help keeping track of the development and updating. ;)

could it be possible to use the linpus drivers in os x? just one idea...

Thanks

Okay. I have a big issue. I downloaded iDeneb and its roughly 4.3 gigs. Not huge, but i dont have an external DVD drive. Additionally, i dont have a DVD burner here anymore. I possibly could burn a DVD on a friends computer, but i have no clue how to transfer the .iso file. It wont copy to my 16 gb SDHC card. ;)

Is there no possibility to break up the .iso file and install it using multiple CD-Rs or maybe making my SDHC card usable with the OS X .iso?

Thanks in advance everyone.

Hi,

I am having a bit of a problem with the Battery Monitor. I have installed the Kalyway version of OSX on my Acer and upgraded to 10.5.5.

The one thing that is always not working well is the Battery Monitor. On the menu bar I always get a battery with an X in it when the laptop is plugged in or when it runs on battery power. Any battery widgets cannot find the battery (same in when I click on the battery icon on the menu bar, the message says "No Batteries Available")

What is strange, is that when I go into the Energy Saver Preferences a message of the current battery charge does display in the middle of the window, but that is the only place I can see it.

Any suggestions on how to fix this???

Whatever you choose to install from needs to be bootable..I've read about booting from a USB stick or thumb drive (Search the Leopard Install Forum or Genius Bar)..You can get a cheap 8gb or 16gb and try that..

Otherwise I would do it right and use your friends drive to burn a proper DVD..ISO is an image file, so use Nero in Windows (File | Open |File Type: ISO) or in OSX use Disk Utility..Burn at a sloooow speed..4x or so..

FYI, using Toast will make your boot disk a coaster full of data..I've never been able to boot from an ISO disk made in toast..

Your card reader slots will not function in OS X..Don't know about multiple CD-R..You'd probably need some kind of installer script for that...

1)Sleep should be now possible with the new Voodoo-Kernel, but only read this, can't confirm it...

I can confirm that sleep in AAO using Voodoo Beta2 DOES NOT work..Sleep from the menu produces a screen flicker then screen freeze...Only way to restore is to hold power button and shut off..Clamshell close produces a kernel panic and the Mac Screen of Death "Hold Down The Power Button..etc"

Okay, thanks for the reply. :P

I just so happen to have a friend with a Mac and im sure he'd let me burn a DVD off of his laptop (crosses fingers it has a DVD burner). However, how do i transfer the .iso? :)

Also, i have a 16 GB SDHC, unless you were talking about the fact that the card readers wont read in OS X so the SDHC is pointless unless i have a USB SDHC card reader, which i dont. :D

To get a file the size of 4GB+ onto your memorystick, it will have to be formateed on your friend Mac with HFS+ format! Fat32(which is probably what it has on) will not take a file that size! If you think ahead:

1) Format it on his machine, copy the ISO from your machine onto it

2)make yourself a DVD using his machine, if it's a newer model Mac it should have a DVD burner! once you have the DVD reboot from it so that you know it's working!

4) **IMPORTANT** take him for a beer, to thank him for letting you "violate" his pure Mac to create a Hack! :D

Another solution is to use "MacDrive 7.x.x" it works finely on windows and allows you to manage the mac disks trough W. Actually I use this to R/W my disks whenever I don't have my mac with me :) .

If you intend to move to os x it'll be a great idea to get one copy.

Ah, so that is why it wouldnt allow me to copy the file over. Well, i will try out the Mac Drive thing and see what happens. Also, thanks for all the replies guys. I was looking on the MSI Wind forums and they a work around that uses two partitions, one of the iso itself and one for the Mac install. I tried it but it doesnt seem to stay installed on the OSX partition. It seems to install though cuz it takes a while.

I will try my hardest to get this to work WITHOUT a DVD drive. I refuse to buy one for essentially one task. haha. Im stubborn like that, and seeing other people having success without a DVD drive makes me even more stubborn.

First and foremost,

I want to thank everyone who has put together this thread, directions and drivers for getting this neat netbook to run OS X. I just recently purchased one based on what I saw in this forum and its awesome. Not a replacement for the machines I have but a neat thing to work with. I do have a couple of questions and concerns from the install I have made and wondering for suggestions or thoughts.

First, in OSX it lists that the GMA950 will use up to 64 mb of shared video memory. But the Bios for the machine is showing 7 mb. Just curious if anyone knows which is correct? and if its not 64 mb as shown in OS X, is there anyway to change the Bios to make this happen?

I was able to go through the entire install using a few things from this forum, the ALC268FIX, the ACPIBattery.kext that is in beta on another thread here (works perfectly), and one other utility pack that a user put on this forum, can't find it right now but here is the last 2 questions...

Just ordered the Dell broadcom wifi card to replcae the internal one and just wondering since its a direct re-placement, is there a driver necessary? or will it see it off the bat?

The last one, my USB works but in this way. I have to plug in the device before booting the laptop for it to be recognized, if I plug it in while the laptop is on, it does not show at all, like a flash drvie not mounting on the desktop. Any ideas? as I have been able to do the full updates without a hitch....

Any help with this is greatly appreciated and again thank you everyone for getting me this far with my pet project...

~Stephen

Hello All;

Thanks for the contributions.

StickMAC i have updated the 1st post I made and add your kext and link on the procedures

Thanks for the help man !!!

Ill post some of the procedures like battery meter, and the Video Mirror also the Resolution runs at full and the external monitor supports 1680x1050x32, with rotation, mirror and autoplug!

This is nice, If i have tested all kext on my machine on Vanilla kernel StickMAC will be my best friend :)

Hello SBMac;

For your USB device to work make sure your System.kext version is same as your Kernel File Version.

What Kernel are you using eg. Vanilla, sleepkernel, kabylkernel and so on.

You can also check your kernel by opening Terminal and type 'uname -a' without the ''

Quick question in regards to what cablebfg is talking about. I've got access to plenty of macs if necessary:

is there a consistent way I can get the iDeneb iso onto an 8gig USB stick and thus avoid using an external drive?

The basic procedure is just formatting the usb stick using the HFS+ format, and then putting the contents of the iso onto the stick? I'd love to install without having to buy the drive.

Is there a procedure I should be following, using a mac, when it comes to getting the files onto the drive (ie some kind of specific iso extractor that works well or something)...

Thanks a million for all the help, my Aspire A150 is arriving tomorrow and since I just dropped 70euros in IVA fees I'd prefer not to have to drop another 50 on an external USB drive, especially since I've gotta get a new wireless card too.

Ciao!

Here, try this..

He made it for clean macs but should do well for Hackintosh's I suppose..Also I heard that DasBoot works well, though I haven't tried it..

I did a complete install from a 8GB Stick!

The problem is it takes for ages and ages to load it with the install dvd'd contents and takes about 7min to boot from! It IS possible and works great!

I merely formated the stick in Disk Utilities, used Chameleon to make it bootable, and CCC'ed the install ISO onto the 8gb's of space then booted from it!

bradbergeron's method was done before anybody knew anything about chameleon or PC_EFI_V8

For the Wife's backup, I got a 4GB stick form Mediamarkt for CHF14.00 and keep a copy of the complete XP install and the necessary software on it!

Ps: for the record, the "fixing" of the Audio, i used a kext that someone else already "fixed" the autoswitch, I just can't remember his name but half the credit has to go to him.........
