PeteUD
Has anyone noticed a general slowdown in OSX after installing XP? Boot up is definitely slower and it seems like apps bounce more on launch than usual. Or am I on crack? Does anyone have a stock 2GHz MBP w/ 1GB RAM that they've benchmarked either with XBench, GeekBench or Cinebench I'd like to have compare benchmarks pre- and post-XP install. Faustus
Not that I've noticed but then I only had the thing for a day before I did it. Mines a 1.83ghz though. DeathChill
You are definitely insane. Mac OS X could give a {censored} less what else you have installed and Windows cannot interact with OS X at all anyway (not counting MacDrive) so it's impossible. PeteUD
It's the crack. I benchmarked it using Xbench 1.2 and it's running inline with the rest of the stock 2GHz machines (~55 overall w/ beam sync on). So nothing to worry about. However boot up is slower esp if you restart. I think when you restart and go through the boot selection RAM is dumped that previously wouldn't. I think... xmitchx
My OS X is FLYING as fast as ever Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12910-osx-slowdown-due-to-xp-install/#findComment-82549 Share on other sites
profetes
My too! But since you've probably did a back up copy and put it again in your internal drive, sth could have gone wrong then...I had a problem with my finder, it was going very, very slow but I solved it dumping finder preferences. Velvet Nightmare
It may slow down for a SECOND when Spotlight is first indexing the files, but other than that it should be fast Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12910-osx-slowdown-due-to-xp-install/#findComment-83181 Share on other sites
MowgliBook
I think that spotlight doesn't index FAT or NTFS disks. You sould use Onyx to optimise your installation.
