[Help!] how can I fix sleep, LED not blinking, restart and shut down malfunction in 10.5

Hello everyone:

I encountered few problems with 10.5:

  1. Sleep not fully working:
OSX can only be waked up by pressing power button, not mouse or keyboard yet. How can I fix this to make it support mouse and keyboard waking?
  2. Power LED not blinking during sleep mode:
it flashes about twice or three times and then is off after starting sleep mode, not blinks(fades in and out) as a real Mac does.
  3. Restart not fully working:
it fully properly works only before running sleep mode, once after waking up from sleep mode, it can't automatically reboot, it keeps staying in no signal screen after quitting OSX. How can I fix this to get it working correctly?
  4. Shut down not fully working:
hard disk and power LED shut down with no signal screen as normal but graphic card fan and all other fans don't stop spinning. How can I fix this?

I've gained few results from tested different kernels for these issue myself before I post here:

The conclusion is: None of 5 kernels works 100% properly.

test environment: 10.5.5 / official 9.5 kernel / official 10.5.5 system.kext / AppleACPIPlatform.kext(downloaded from Karaakeha1's guide)

sleep result a :D : VGA signal off, hard disk shuts down-->about 15 seconds later, fans stop, power LED flash twice or three times and then off-->can wake up with power button but neither mouse nor keyboard.

sleep result b :D : VGA signal off, hard disk shuts down-->fans, power LED keep ON-->can't wake up with mouse, keyboard, even power button.

restart result a :( : it properly works only before sleep, once after sleep, no automatically reboot, it keeps staying in no signal screen after quitting OSX.

shut down result a :( : VGA signal off, hard disk shuts down, power LED off, fans don't stop, whether before or after sleep.

shut down result b :) : VGA signal, hard disk, power LED and fans all off, whether before or after sleep.

Am I using wrong mach_kernel(vanilla), ACPI, system, SMBIOS kexts, BIOS setting or something?

Please help fix these issue.

Thanks in advance.

My OS:

Mac OSX 10.5.5 (Kalyway10.5.2DVD-->Kalyway10.5.3ComboUpdate-->software update 10.5.4-->install 10.5.5 updater from Apple download page with deleting the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext immediately while it shows up.)

current kernel: 9.5(should be vanilla) /direct from official 10.5.5 updater.

------------------------------------

Fully working functions:

+8800GT /QE,CI,rotate,resolution change work. /with EFIStudio adding device string to com.apple.boot.plist.

+ALC888 Audio /line out port works /with specific ALCinkext.kext, AppleHDA.kext.

+SATA hard disk /also shows the right internal hard disk icon. /with specific IOAHCIFamily.kext, AppleAHCIPort.kext.

+USB /works. /without specific kext.

+DVD drive /works. /without specific kext.

+Ethernet port /both work. /without specific kext.

------------------------------------

Not fully working functions:

-Sleep /can only be waked up by pressing power button, not mouse or keyboard yet. /with mach_kernel 9.5 from Apple official 10.5.5 updater.

-Power LED blinking under sleep mode /as along with Mac Pro's specific front panel logic board, still can't get LED blinking like a real Mac with kernel, kexts or BIOS method, but aquamac said he succeeded with soldering job.

-Restart /only ok before running sleep mode, after waking up from sleep mode, no automatically reboot, stays in no signal screen after quitting OSX.

-Shut down /hard disk and power LED shut down but graphic card fan and all other fans don't stop spinning.

------------------------------------

Not tested yet functions:

?ALC888 Audio /line in port, microphone port, side speaker out port, center/subwoofer port, rear speaker out port, optical S/PDIF out port, coaxial S/PDIF out port are not tested yet. Hmm...I'm very little concerned about both S/PDIF out ports, will deal with them when I need them.

(but line in and microphone port are detected under sound preference panel.)

?IEEE1394a (but detected under system profiler.)

?front panel high definition audio(HDA) /probably needs to connect tiny mini Molex PanelMate™ 1.25mm (.049") Pitch Ultra Low-Profile connector to my Mac Pro's front panel from motherboard.

Well, overflow1972,

It didn't work for me this time, am I missing something?

I installed this OpenHaltRestart.kext by dragging it into extensions folder and doing chmod chown for this kext and then rebooted, ran sleep, woked it up, rebooted again, it still kept staying in no signal screen after quitting OSX, so still no automatic reboot after sleep.

Please help. Thanks.

Install it with Kext Helper:

http://www.cheetha.net/Kext_Helper/Software.html

Or you can try the shutdown fix in my signature, it seems to work for me.
