So 10.4.5 works great on my machine, however the one problem I've encountered is that obviously old PPC Preference Panes can not be loaded by the new Intel System Preferences. I always assumed that I could just go and force System Preferences to run under Rosetta by using the "Open Using Rosetta". However, today, when I actually tired it, I found that there is no check box on the System Preferences app. (There are on plenty of other Uni Bin apps, just no System Preferences) Has anyone found a workaround for this?

I've kept around a version of System Preferences from 10.4.3, I think, that still has the working Rosetta option. I labeled it different and set it to use Rosetta (in Get Info), so I now the old and curtrent versions available all the time. PM me if you need to be hooked up with the old version.

In the app there a file called info.plist

it is a setting file for the binary

changing the Boolean value of LSRequiresNativeExecution to no will allow rosetta execution

however it is better to use one form the developers releases, 10.4.1 if you have it because it allows you to run some prefpane's in rosetta and natively
