Gujal
There is no 10.5.5 Apple update released yet. It is expected soon, it is in Beta The current released update is 10.5.4 You need to download 10.5.4 combo update from Apple Downloads and follow Netkas method to update your machine to 10.5.

System rebooted ok, missing hda sound and pata HDDs on the initial boot, but on the subsequent boot the pata HDDs showed up. Leopard is on a sata drive. Point being, if you haven't already tried, a boot using -f -x -v may be enough get it going ? Good luck.
