News for anyone interested

Just completed a build with:

Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L motherboard

BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC 512MB

HP dvd1070 DVD Drive-SATA

Western Digital Caviar 320GB-SATA

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.0 Ghz

4 GBs Ram

Used iATKOS v4i to install OSX with stock kernel, NVinject, and SATA drivers. Used the tool for Gigabyte P35-D3x boards to install audio kexts and switch to 9.4 modbin kernel.

Ethernet worked out of box, but had issues getting graphics to work. Finally used NVinstaller 3.0 to install 10.5.2 graphics kexts and EFIstudio to bypass NVinject.

Now, audio, network, graphics all working, system stable, and everything is reading as it should. bought components off of newegg for under $500, including an arctic freezer cpu cooler, and the system works beautifully.

Advice to any wanting to use this type of build:

-Always use SATA components. They will cause fewer kernel panics.

-In the bios, SATA must be loaded as AHCI, but not in legacy mode

-As far as overclocking, don't use any settings where the board will throttle the CPU for you if you plan on using VMware or Parallels. It will crash the system everytime.

-iATKOS is a good build because it utilizes PC-EFI (I switched to Chameleon), and is a "white box" install, meaning you can use Apple "Software Update", but using BOOT-123 or any other EFI emulator is preferred due to the ease of setting up components

Software to have on hand:

Nvidia Installer 3.0 by Punk92

EFIStudio

iATKOS v4i

Leopard GA-P35-DS4 install pack by PCWiz

Good Luck, as I have had plenty here
