at boot just type maxmem=4000 (i do 3850 just to be on the safe side..and if this doesnt work then try all the way down to 2000 and if its still happening then this isnt the root of the issue)

For those of you who care WHY this fixes the kernel panics, it has to do with Jmicron Sucking ALOT....because anything 4 gigs and above jmicron cant handle in osx..i guess it goes into a seizure or some thing if your rig is awesome :]

PS: IF this works then you can add it to the boot.plist to automatically do it so you dont have to type it EVERY time your system starts :]

Thank you a lot!! I've got KP when mac actively uses hard drive, and I didn't know how to solve it. Looks like now I have an answer )))

(Yes, I have 4Gigs and Jmicron)...

I'll check it out and will post results here :)

--------EDIT--------

It works! I've set memory amount to 3500 and it didn't help, than I thoght it should depend on amount of video memory and number of addon cards, so I lower it to 3200. And now can actively use hard drive without KP :)

P.S. And I found different topic with discussion of this problem, you may look there for additional information: http://www.insanelymac.com/lofiversion/index.php/t87267.html
