Pwnage 2.0.2 for iPhone 2G/3G Firmware 2.0.1 RELEASED

The update for the Pwnage Tool 2.0.1 to 2.0.2 has been released. This will unlock/jailbreak iPhone 2G models using the 2.0.1 firmware, and jailbreak the iPhone 3G using 2.0.1 firmware ... below is the excerpt from the iPhone Dev Team Blog:

 

Recommended method for updating is Sparkle (the internal updater inside PwnageTool) or using the Finder to decompress the files, don’t use command line tools to decompress as incorrect use will not preserve permissions, just double click the download above in the Finder.

 

NOTE: DO NOT USE “THE UNARCHIVER” to decompress our .tbz files, it’ll corrupt them, just use the existing Apple utility called “Archive Utility” that ships with OS X, usually a double click will do, but in case you have something else weird and non-standard installed the correct decompression tool can be located at /System/Library/CoreServices/Archive Utility.app

 

Installer 4 Beta is included, it is added in any mode by default. The main installer package management interface within PwnageTool isn’t enabled yet, and will report that installer.app isn’t available, but the actual Installer.app package is added as a default option in both modes.

 

The latest Cydia is also enabled by default

 

NOTE: THE UPDATE OPTION FOR CUSTOM RAMDISKS IS NOT YET SUPPORTED FOR USE WITH ITUNES, SO FOR THIS RELEASE OF PWNAGETOOL USE THE RESTORE OPTION.

 

Please ensure you ONLY download and use the tbz file - as we warned yesterday the re-compressed unauthorized .zip files cause problems with certain parts of the release.

 

If you choose to download the file PwnageTool_2.0.2.tbz from anywhere else apart from these mirrors then check the SHA1 sum, AGAIN - ONLY DOWNLOAD THE TBZ!

 

I updated using the internal updater in Pwnage and re-unlocked my phone with the 2.0.1 firmware and it seems to be working 100% ...
