Matt Tighe
I have used 10.4.4 Generic Patched DVD to install OS X on a Vaio VGN-A297XP similar spec except I have 512MB ram and a P4M 1.80Mhz. The DVD takes a *long* time to boot up. Perhaps 10-15 minutes (all the time the dvd drive is making a lot of noise). If you haven't pressed F8 it'll be on the Apple screen. Once it has done so the installation continues fine. Dunno if that helps? (I still haven't actually got the installed osx to run the GUI though, so I'd be interested to hear if you get it to work).
