ddrjm
Hi all 1st post in these boards.. i'm having a problem using my iATKOS V4i install (10.5.4), i installed it fine, everything's working properly, there are only 3 that aren't. the first one, and (for me) less important is with the shutdown and sleep commands from the apple menu. when i click to sleep the computer, it goes to sleep but i cannot wake it up no matter what i do (all that's left it's to scream at it to see if it wakes up ). when i click to shutdown the computer it won't shutdown, just sit's there, no signal in the monitor, CPU and harddrive are shutdown, but the power doesn't go out. The second one is with the about this Mac Option, i just can't access it, it just crashes the desktop and it reloads again. The third and most important one is with my graphics card. System Profiler recongnizes it as a Generic Nvidia (PCI ID 0x 00f6 10de, revision id(if anyone knows what is this for plz tell me) 0x00a2). I tried everything i Could get my hands on related to getting QE/CI to work but all i get is or a "please restart, blah blah blah" error, or i get resolution support (no QE/CI features). I've been snooping arround in the logs and i get it recognized (by titan when i had it installed) as a 6800 GS. i would like very much to get all issues resolved especially the last one so i can enjoy the beauty of my hackintosh edit: my PC specs Mobo: ASRock P4i65G (intel chipset) CPU: intel Pentium 4 Prescott (478) @ 3.0Ghz RAM : 512 DDR 400 (working in Single-channel mode) DVD Recorders: Asus DRW-2014LT (sata), Samsung TS-H542A (ide) Graphics Card: XFX GeForce 6800XT (AGP8x) Sound Card: Sound Blaster X-FI Xtreme Music (non PCI-e version) Mouse: 3 button Samsung PS/2 Mouse Keyboard: MkPlus LightBoard Floppy Drive: N/A HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 120GB (ide) TV Tuner: Asus MyCinema P7131 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119380-agpxfx-6800xt-qeci-and-other-issues/ Share on other sites
starobrno1
I don´t know but maby you can find some info here http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,64.60.html Don´t know if it works with AGP cards though but it´s worth checking out I guess. Safest is to backup your kext and plist before you try it though. Please add some more info about your hardware would be usefull for helpers. As you requested, i just posted my PC spec's thanks for the tip, i'm going to try it later... Also, one thing i noticed, when i installed NV inject .41 it also installed the openGL framework, i think i made a boo boo when i did it. i read that because NV inject .41 is for 10.5.2, i'm running 10.5.4 (iatkos v4i) i belive that the most recent NVinject installer (nvinstaller.com is for 10.5.4) anyway to get the openGL framework, from the original install working again? if i can update it from somewhere else, someone plz post the link anyone got this working with 10.5.4? starobrno1
You could try the NVinject.kext I uploaded to my thread (it´s about editing the NVCAP string in the NVinject.kext) http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...7&hl=7300gs I borrowed it from Mysticus C and edited it to get QE and dual displays working OK for some of the cards I´ve had in different setups. One of the cards where an AGP PNY 6200 2256 mb (AGP 8X) and the fact is this kext worked for both a PCIe 7300 gs 256m mb and this AGP card so it might be worth a shot. Remember as I said before to backup your kext if things mess up. You also have to delete any old kex (NVinject or Natit) and clear caches in the System/Library/Extensions/Caches before you reboot or else your system will boot up the same as it was before. Repair permissions is also allways a good thing to do. On one of my setups an Asus P4 P800se mobo P4 3Ghz cpu with this PNY 6200 AGP video card I even had Retail Leo 10.5.4 running ok with this kext. Ok, i reinstalled iatkos. so now I'm with a fresh install, the first thing i did is backup the extensions folder (which is about 250mb on iatkos). do you recommend installing only your kext or do you suggest that i download the most recent one from nvinstaller.com? i'll try installing the kext only and see how it goes and give you feedback how it went going a little offtopic, i've read about it (nvcap) somewhere in the forums but i never figured what it does and what it it for, could give a little brief? (i know this is a bit offtopic but my card could need this to get working propperly, my card has 2 DVi outs and a S-video out) edit: about the clearing the caches, do i just delete the folder? ddrjm
ok, i've tried with ur kext and all i get is a black screen with the mouse in it, is that a good sign? starobrno1
Ok sounds strange, I´m on Retail Leo 10.5.4 ugraded from Kalyway Leo 10.5.1 and Kalys could be different from iatkos but I doubt it. When I´m experimenting/trying out different video kexts I only backup the kext I´m replacing. About the clear caches you only delete the com.apple.kext.info in the caches folder, seems the system writes a new one of these everytime it´s running. The NVCAP as I understand is the string that tells your videocard which port is the first/main outport for your monitor and the kext I edited is for VGA and DVI so you need one for DVI DVI. It´s not hard to change so I can do that and upload it for you but I can´t promise it´ll work but I can´t see why it should´nt. But first try to connect your monitor to the other DVI port and see what happends. This should be for DVI DVI Hey I forgot it´s important the amount of memory you have on your video card, is it 256 mb or 512 mb (or any other amount of mbs) card cause there´s a difference between the kexts for the cards. This kext I uploaded for you is for 256 mb. It´s no big deal to extract another kext from mysticus Cs package I believe I still have it so check out what you have and I´ll edit a new one for you if this was the wrong one, still no promises it´ll work though. ddrjm
1st of all thanks for your support my card has 256mb of ram in it, in both installs i installed AGPgart 2.49 so it would detect it as agp and not pci. one thing, VGA = Dsub connector, right? My monitor has a d-sub connection, and i'm using a D-sub (VGA i guess (that 15 pin thingy)) to DVI converter to connect it to the pc, does that have any impact on the injecter or detection itself? i've read what the guys at nvinject have to say about nvcap, and they talk about channel's TV outs and such... how do i know which one is which and what is the one i'm using? (atm i only have leo available since my windows XP has blown a fuse (but that is another problem to solve lol) All the kexts of the fresh install are already backed up, so if anything goes wrong i'll just replace the entire folder will try this one u sent here's the card info from System profiler, if it helps Type: Display Bus: AGP VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x00f6 Revision ID: 0x00a2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119380-agpxfx-6800xt-qeci-and-other-issues/#findComment-849322 Share on other sites
ddrjm
ok, tried your kext on this thread, and the it happens the same, aka a black screen with only the mouse showing, this time it passes a blue screen and then it fades to black, i've tried turning on the computer in different DVi's, and it's the same result on both. edit: i've noticed i haven't said in my config how much ram i have, will that now Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119380-agpxfx-6800xt-qeci-and-other-issues/#findComment-849360 Share on other sites

Do you have something like "graphics apperture" in your setup/bios if you have reduce it to minimum. First time I indstalled osx86 this was the key to get it running. Do you have something like "graphics apperture" in your setup/bios if you have reduce it to minimum. First time I indstalled osx86 this was the key to get it running. in my old motherboard i think i did, in this one i don't know, will check that out and tell you back the results, i got the LEO driver from NvInject.free.fr and it detected it as follows: GeForce 6800 GS: Chipset Model: GeForce 6800 GS Type: Display Bus: AGP VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x00f6 Revision ID: 0x00a2 ROM Revision: NVinject 0.1.3 Displays: BenQ T701: Resolution: 1280 x 1024 @ 75 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Software Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported Display Connector: Status: No display connected this injecter enabled me the resolution changing features, i only modified the NVcap to "04000000 00001300 0C000000 00000007 00000000" which is i belive the Dual DVi + TV out setting (not sure about that, but if you search about it on the site you'll find it (i think it's an announcement)). Ow, and I also deleted the IOPCIMatch value and put only my PCI-ID (0x00f610de). this is a progress as only now it got detected the right way (in windows it's also detected as a Nvidia GeForce 6800 XT/GS so it's normal). What modifications did you made to your kext? What value would you suggest that i put the AGP apperture? (if i have that option) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119380-agpxfx-6800xt-qeci-and-other-issues/#findComment-849750 Share on other sites
starobrno1
Looks like this kext you have now is better for your card. All I edited was the NVCAP string from dual DVI to VGA DVI cause that´s what I had on those cards (7300gs PCIe+ 6200 AGP) and change display A to B to get my main display to be A/first. You see I have my yamaha hs 50 m studiomonitors (for musicmaking) on my desk so my second display sits to the right of the right yamaha so it got kind of wierd having to look to the right in short words I got a pain in my neck cause of this so I had to figure out how to change it. But you know it´s really strange cause this kext that I originally found in Mysticus Cs package and edited I first used for my 7300 gs PCIe on my new rig but then just for the hell of it I decided to try it out on my old rig with the 6200 AGP and it worked perfectly on that one to. My new rig is a GA P35-DS3R 8 gig memory Q6600 cpu and the old one was an Asus mobo with a single core 3 Ghz cpu 3 gig memory and still it worked. I guess the best one can do is to figure out what hardware people around here use that´s documented to work and when it´s time or when one has the money go for that. I did cause I wanted a quadcore to be able to run Logic pro for my musicmaking and I wanted to get as close as I could to a mac pro. Then I saw this thread about installing Retail Leo and I went for that and it worked so I decided to skip IDE and move on to Sata disks so I did to. Next step was to upgrade the videocard again cause I want to dive in to filmmaking or more precisely making live music videos when I play (even though I´ve spend a bit by this time on this trying stuff out I´m still under half the price for a mac pro). I have one first try out "Chevy Rag" down in creativity. One thing I´ve noticed though is it seems these guys from Kalyway to etc. etc. seems to add their own stuff cause when I replaced my 7300gs that I origianally had in my new rig that have the Retail install on as the main install the backup Kalys Leo would´nt work no more. The old rig is in my daughters house but I was there tonight and checked the bios settings out and I had set it to the lowest possible (4 megs) Man it´s late night here in Scandinavia 2 in the morning so I got to go. I´ll see if I can come up with some more but I tell you I´m no expert in this so I´m kind of running out of answers here. ddrjm
i got it working on my card with just some minor changes to the Kexts I made IOProbeScore to 0 on the NVinject, NVDAN40HAL (here, i found references, changed the second one only), NVDAN30HAL and NVDAResman. Still, in those kext's i replaced my PCI ID on NVinject where it says IOPCIMatch, and added it to the beggining of the list on those other kext's i mentioned. I removed AGPgart, and changed the NVCAP to DUAL DVI (can't Test if I have dual monitor or not though) Thanks for your Help. I will be posting a howto on how i did it soon. starobrno1
Hey man that´s great glad you managed to work it out. Please post how you did it in a new thread and keep bumping the thread for some time cause I believe lots of guys get stranded on similar problems and the soloution seems to be to change a few things in a kext and your home free. The problem is to find the info you need to get it fixed and you don´t get much help round here from time to time. This forum seems to be a bit to big and threads to fast ends up a couple of pages back in the list. OK Good luck man Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119380-agpxfx-6800xt-qeci-and-other-issues/#findComment-850560 Share on other sites
