1o1 Posted August 2, 2008 Share Posted August 2, 2008 Hello everyone I have install Leopard in HP Desktop and everything is working fine (sort of ) My only issue is that everytime I reboot the desktop it will keep rebooting and I can only boot with a kernel called "update" if I try to boot with vanillakernel it will just display some text and reboot (very fast, I can't even read what is the error) so my question is how can I know what type of kernel is this (update), is is vanilla ? also anyone can help me to boot to vanilla ? Thanks Yes also here is my OS information ls -altotal 120493 drwxrwxr-t 41 root admin 1462 Jul 13 13:28 . drwxrwxr-t 41 root admin 1462 Jul 13 13:28 .. -rw-rw-r--@ 1 ahmad admin 6148 Aug 2 10:35 .DS_Store drwx------ 3 root wheel 102 Jul 9 10:24 .Spotlight-V100 d-wx-wx-wt 2 root staff 68 Jul 8 10:59 .Trashes -rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 0 Jul 8 10:59 .com.apple.timemachine.supported drwx------ 113 root wheel 3842 Aug 2 10:45 .fseventsd -rw-rw-r-- 1 ahmad admin 312 Apr 7 13:59 .hidden -rw------- 1 root wheel 131072 Aug 1 00:17 .hotfiles.btree drwxr-xr-x@ 2 root wheel 68 Nov 25 2007 .vol drwxrwxr-x+ 55 root admin 1870 Jul 27 17:04 Applications -rw-r--r--@ 1 root admin 1024 Jul 13 13:32 Desktop DB -rw-r--r--@ 1 root admin 2 Jul 13 13:28 Desktop DF drwxrwxr-x+ 55 root admin 1870 Jul 21 11:35 Library drwxr-xr-x@ 2 root wheel 68 Jan 29 2008 Network drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Jul 9 07:45 System drwxr-xr-x 5 root admin 170 Jul 9 10:27 Users drwxrwxrwt@ 4 root admin 136 Aug 2 09:17 Volumes drwxr-xr-x@ 40 root wheel 1360 Jul 9 07:33 bin drwxrwxr-t@ 2 root admin 68 Jan 29 2008 cores dr-xr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jul 23 08:45 dev lrwxr-xr-x@ 1 root admin 11 Jul 8 11:16 etc -> private/etc dr-xr-xr-x 2 root wheel 1 Jul 23 08:45 home -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 5021876 Mar 23 20:25 kabylkernel -rw-r--r--@ 1 root wheel 10293308 Jun 10 05:37 mach_kernel -rw-r--r--@ 1 root wheel 10742313 Jun 10 05:37 mach_kernel.ctfsys -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 5021876 Mar 5 08:25 modbinkernel -rwxrwxr-x@ 1 root admin 2401 Feb 24 08:17 movevideodrivers dr-xr-xr-x 2 root wheel 1 Jul 23 08:45 net -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 5017744 Feb 13 16:00 nforcekernel drwxr-xr-x@ 6 root wheel 204 Jul 8 11:21 private drwxr-xr-x@ 66 root wheel 2244 Jul 12 07:15 sbin -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 5039804 Mar 2 15:02 sleepkernel -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 5040024 Feb 26 20:26 speedstepkernel lrwxr-xr-x@ 1 root admin 11 Jul 8 11:16 tmp -> private/tmp -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 5039804 Mar 2 15:02 update drwxr-xr-x@ 12 root wheel 408 Jul 8 11:28 usr -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 10276952 Mar 5 08:25 vanillakernel lrwxr-xr-x@ 1 root admin 11 Jul 8 11:16 var -> private/var unxkms:/ $ uname -aDarwin unxkms.prod.xxxx.lan 9.2.2 Darwin Kernel Version 9.2.2: Tue Mar 4 21:17:34 PST 2008; root:xnu-1228.4.31~1/RELEASE_I386 i386 and I'm running kalway distribution Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118913-how-to-know-my-kernel-type/ Share on other sites More sharing options...
