midgetmafia
Hey, I just finished installing Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2 using Kalyway's DVD, and everything works great. I was surprised myself that I didn't have any hiccups. Now all that I'm in need for is a good BitTorrent client, as well as an FTP application. In Windows, I used uTorrent and Filezilla. In Linux, I used rTorrent and Midnight Commander. Are there any popular BitTorrent clients and FTP clients that people in the Mac world use? PsYcHoKiLLa
Filezilla is also available for Macs from the same place, be sure to choose the right version though (Intel or PowerPC). Anyone know a good newsgroup program for OSX? I use grabit on Vista. MacThomas
Cyberduck for FTP is awesome app for OSX. I would highly recommend. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118867-looking-for-good-torrent-and-ftp-clients/#findComment-843340 Share on other sites
Hagar
I guess Im the only one who found Cyberduck unreliable. For a freeware sftp solution I like fugu, but I think the commercial offering Fetch is still the overall winner for fxp. Bob Ajob
I use Transmission for torrents but apparently there is also Acquisition, Vuze (formerly Azureus), BitTornado, FoxTorrent, LimeWire, Opera, and even uTorrent (with Wine) I use Filezilla for FTP client but apparently there is also Bulletproof, CrossFTP, Cute, Cyberduck, Fetch and Transmit Now, for setting up an FTP server you could just use the built in service but other choices include CrossFTP, JScape, PureFTPd and glFTPd but Rumpus is by far my favourite as its very easy to set up and use and and is well supported Use wikipedia to compare various protocol clients (and servers) - they have nice tables which list various operating systems including OSX I recommend also using Unison for browsing the binary newsgroups and finally Colloquy for chatting with other Hackintosh users on IRC (Internet Relay Chat) - once installed try connecting to osx86.irc.hu (#hackint0sh) and irc.moofspeak.net (#InsanelyMac and #osx86) Go on, set up a nice server and host some useful files for us ...
