boot-132 Vanilla Retail on GA-G31M-S2L (Need sound Help)

Below is my simple guide to installing the system. The only things I can't get to work is the sound and rebooting sometimes fails.

 

For sound I have the AzailiaAudio kext on the cd but audio is never activated. I haven't tried AppleHDAPatcher yet, b/c I would like to keep the install completely vanilla. Do I need to add EFI strings for azalia?

 

On reboot the machine seems to go down, the monitor loses signal but the fans are still running on the motherboard. Pushing the reset button works fine, but I would like to get it to work.

 

Shutdown sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

 

Sound, reboot, and audio all worked fine under leo4allv3.

 

 

Any ideas would be helpful.

I have had good success installing with my Retail DVD of 10.5.0 using the boot-132 (generic.iso). Everything is mostly working, including quartz extreme.

 

My Specs:

GA-G31M-S2L (has realtek alc662 for sound, not using onboard ethernet since it is flakey)

MSI NX8500GT 256MB

Netgear GA311

4 gigs ram

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0Ghz

 

generic.iso would not boot with my video card in, so just remove it and use the built in video.

 

Install from the retail dvd.

 

after installation boot generic.iso and then select your hard drive.

 

Upgrade to 10.5.4 without any issues. Sometimes it will try to reboot and not make it, after a bit just hit the reset button (manual reboot).

 

Install Chameleon_DFE_for_Hard_Disk with all the kext from generic.iso except NVkush

 

Put graphics card back in. Should work now.

 

To get quartz extreme, use EFIStudio to add efi string for your video card, worked for my 8500gt and a 7300gt I have. Reboot and you have full graphics without any kernel extensions.
