ChocolateJeff
Hi, I need some help from the fabulous people here in InsanelyMac, to help my little bro in his little ol' PC to enjoy the goodness of OS 10. First of all, I have used to have an OS 10 PC myself on a Dell Inspiron but I sold that laptop off to get myself a cool shiny Macbook and I'm loving it. But, I'm going to be leaving to work somewhere else soon but before I leave I want to help my bro get OS 10 on his computer. I've downloaded an old Jas 10.4.8 image for Intel, I have not tried installing yet on the computer but will do so soon. My bro's machine is kinda old and its custom.. so I need some ideas and feedback to see if I can make it possible for him. My first request is if anybody would suggest using Leopard in an old machine about 2.0Ghz single core I'm not sure, but if it's MUCH MUCH better than Tiger, than I might download Leo4All thing and try that instead of sticking with the old 10.4.8 (which I think it pretty good when I was using it) Ok so the driver hunt begins, first of I need to know if he is going to get internet, Don't have wireless at my home just LAN and so is there a driver for the OS 10 for D-Link DFE-530TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter(rev. A) (got this info from the Vista OS in the computer) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/117690-hello-all-im-building-an-os-x-machine/ Share on other sites
kitkat54
I'm running Leopard on a Sony Vaio UX180p -- this is a micro PC, with a 1.2GHz core solo, and 512M of ram. It runs reasonably well for most things. It's not swift, but it's not painful either. -Josh I'm running Leopard on a Sony Vaio UX180p -- this is a micro PC, with a 1.2GHz core solo, and 512M of ram. If you only have SSE2, tiger may work better, but Leopard works OK.
