b16a2
Hi Guys, Im running an Abit A8n-SLI deluxe board with an Athlon 64 3000. My graphics card is a pcie 6600gt. I just installed 10.4.4 from a 10.4.4 install dvd. I was able to boot the dvd with no problem, and gave osx a complete 27 gig pata drive that was in my machine. I used the chain0 trick to boot using the windows boot menu, which worked great. My problem is that once it boots osx, it doesnt get to a desktop. It says "Setup Assistant Crashed", then says that there is an entry made in "Setup Assistant.crash.log", and then it says "Login Window App Started." The computer then goes to a blue background and the mouse cursor appears, and then it crashes back to the same text screen with the same messages, and repeats infinitely switching between the text window and the blue screen. I was wondering if any of you guys have had this problem before? Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11480-setup-assistant-crashing-on-first-boot-help/ Share on other sites

thesog
Standard procedures. Since you were able to install OSX, can you boot into safe mode? Can you boot into single user mode and look at that crash log? Viral
Same problem here. Hardware information: AMD 3200 A8N-SLI Delux nForce 4 SLI 1024 DDR nVidia Geforce 6600GT PCI-Express (eVGA) 40GB HDD as 1st Master 250GB HDD as SATA2 (XP) Microsoft Mouse -> USB Microsoft Keyboard -> PS/2 (Doesn't work D=) I'd submit the crash log, however I can't access the parton on winXP, unless someone knows of a tool which enables me to do so, I can't. Other Information: I also noticed that after, I the installation succesfully completed, and clicked "Restart" it hung. I also attempted single user mode via rd=disk0s1 -x, same problem happened. Thank you for your generous help in fixxing this issue. jordanvanbergen
Had the same problem AMD 3000+, installed from the DEMONOID image. Where should this Setup Assistant.crash.log be on the HD? I have access to my mac partition under windows. Aha looking at it I found: \Library\Logs\CrashReporter\Setup Assistant.crash.log THis is all because of the AMD CPU!. You'll have to use the AMD_Enabler in the root of your file system using single user startup option. So startup OSX and: 1. type -s during startup for single user mode 2. cd /AMD_Enabler 3. mount -uw / 4. chmod 755 patcher 5. ./patcher cpuid_patches.txt 6. Wait for it to finish and reboot.... working!
