Hi,

I've got iATKOS v2.0i and I had a great installation working but my HDD packed up and now I want to reinstall it but can't. Basically, I partitioned a new disk and followed peoples dual-booting installation guides and installed Vista first. Then I started up the iATKOS installation and everytime I manage to do the installation without any problems, but when I reboot I get "Missing operating system". Am I not selecting something that I should? There is an option to install an old version of Darwin bootloader, should I try that?

My specs:

Q6600

Asus P5K-C

4Gb Kingston 800Mhz DDR2

ATi HD3870

500Gb Samsung Spinpoint SATA

160Gb Hitachi SATA (this is the partitioned drive)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Are you booting from BIOS to the Hitachi HDD and getting the missing OS message....? Is Vista on Samsung or Hitachi HDD...?

Install and run EasyBCD 1.7.2 in Vista for easy dual booting.... ;) See my blog entry on installing iATKOS v2.01....I assume you chose Darwin EFI bootloader....Run Install DVD choosing no options but Darwin bootloader only.... this has worked for me e.g. restoring bootloader to first volume of partition on my external HDD setup (has a 3 volume partition - all volumes OS X - first two volumes OS X 10.5.2 via Kalyway and third volume OS X 10.5.2 via iATKOS v2.0i)

I have just read your blog and it was somewhat useful. I have noticed that you are using an nForce mobo. From the installation choices you have made these differ slightly from mine. I only use the following:

iATKOS v2.0i Main System

Darwin Bootloader

Kernel 9.2.2

Apple SMBIOS netkas

Intel SATA

Intel Speedstep

NTFS-3G

This (I think) was the same setting as my working installation. I'd like to be able to install the NTFS so I can transfer files between Mac and Windows.

I'll look into the EasyBCD solution.

Oh, Vista and OSX are on the Hitachi drive.

Right, I've managed it. I have managed to dual boot and will put up a guide for those people out there with ASUS P5K-C boards. I've managed to get the sound and the internal network card working too. I'll include a link to all of the drivers that I used to make it easier for everyone. I certainly have struggled with the dual booting option and now I've done it and I'm using SATA disks (which I never could before  ).

Ardman I have the exact same PC configuration and I m w8ing for your installation guide.

@Ardman, glad my guide gave you some help....EasyBCD requires MBR but works in most cases for most people.....

@TrojanGr, if you are itching to get going check out my iATKOS install guides and I will help you....you have the Intel P35 chipset so would not choose nForce options as I had to.....

For audio, install the two kexts (Kext Helper b7 which downloadable here) from here http://www.mediafire.com/?j0lnmnwwgms and in audio and MIDI configuration select the aggregate fix to enable 5.1 channel, and you may get surround sound.....

Hi all Firstly Thanks for an exellent site with a wealth of knowelege, I managed to install the Iatkos v2.01 on the Asus Pro31J laptop with the above mentioned moduels, it seemed to boot fine first boot but then on a reeboot it is only accasable via safe mode or -x at the load prompt, i will do some more kernal / driver research and try to update this post. If anyone has any information or links relivent to this Hardware thatd be a big help I understand that there may just not be the drivers available atm. Compaired to its compeditor's safe mode the OSx has quite afew more features in the safe mode so im happy to pretend i have a hackentosh till i fix it properly. I will update this post wil some system stats from the laptop. Also if anyone knows of a guud x86 hardware list compatible with OSx a link for that would also be great. But happy to just contribute after all if this is a love affair (dual boot) what else is the internet for but posting pictures and dirty stories.. Thanks again all.
