Eggman
I have an Intel D845GVSR motherboard and a SSE2 processor. When I installed Mac OS on VMware, it worked fine. However, I then attempted a native installation. I had the Graphics RAM option in the BIOS set to 1MB. When Mac OS booted, it became grayscale, its colors were inverted, and it only used 256 "Colors." Actually, it wasn't really grayscale; it could display a single shade of red. I then upped the Graphics RAM to 8MB (the maximum) and tried again. The Mac was in color. However, everything, with the exception of the cursor, became a part of a 4x4 pixel grid. The dock was visible, but no icons appeared inside of it. Finally, the system was responsive; it was possible to navigate, but I could not tell what I was doing. Any ideas? Thanks for your help! bdonkey
I had the same problem with my computer, but booting into safe mode with -x works well. On my other computer, with the exact same specs (these were bought together), I can't seem to fix it. It's even worse: it stays in this horrible horrible grayscale mode. plasm
I have the exact same problem, however I don't have the option of moving the UMA memory up. I think I have to update the BIOS to A29, because I read that that adds the option. I can't get it however, does anyone know where to get it? plasm Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1130-display/#findComment-7417 Share on other sites
