Kimi123
That is very intersting: Exclusive: ZDNet overclocking tool enhances performance of Mac Pro Whereas there are a lot of tools available for overclocking in Windows, it is a fruitless task looking for similar applications for Mac OS X. This has all changed now. The ZDNet Clock tool for Mac Pro raises the frequency of the processor, FSB and memory. A Nonny Moose
It wasn't fruitless. Software accelerators had only one choice--the PPC 950FX (G3) that was in some iBook models. It was able to be overclocked by iCooked. The other PPC processors needed hardware based overclocking. It makes me wonder what this ZDNet thingie is exactly based on. sarahbau
This was posted in the user news forum already, but I'll post here as well. I tested it on my new Mac Pro, and it works. The faster speeds are not reported by ASP though. I can only tell that it's over-clocked by the ZDNet tool, and by benchmark results. Mac Pro Quad Core 2.8GHz w/6GB RAM: GeekBench scores 2.80GHz: 5471 3.15GHz: 6191 3.22GHz: 6417 (unstable) 3.27GHz: Computer doesn't POST Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112950-first-overclocking-tool-for-mac-pro-available/#findComment-799681 Share on other sites
BusError
Actually the first generations of G3s (beige) had built in overclock; you could change the frequency by soldering/cuting a set of traces where there was a footprint for a dip switch block. Embio
B&W G3s had that too Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112950-first-overclocking-tool-for-mac-pro-available/#findComment-799952 Share on other sites
